Yes I'm a dork

one nice thing about being unemployed, I can watch all sorts of stuff!

Surfing through the guide the other day I saw that Showtime was airing the Jazz Singer. I recorded it and watched it today. I think I found my inner jew. I realized how bad an actor Neil was, but the rest of the cast was pretty awesome. And the closing scene is awesome! It also brought back some fond memories of seeing it in the movie theater with my mom and gramma. We lived in south florida then and there was a very large jewish population.  My ma, gram and aunt all loved Neil and Barbra Streissand, so they both were part of the soundtrack of my childhood. Throw in some Simon & Garfunkel, Kris Kristoferson and Barry Manilow and you kinda get the picture. I'm sure we listended to some Better Midler too, but she was a bit of an upstart in their minds I think. Also, coming out of the theater with all those elderly jewish women and my very New England gram just RAVING about the show and especially that last scene. Teh awesome!

I love Neil in that campy fun wedding singer way. He's awesome and I've seen him twice in concert, mostly b/c my gf loves him too and it's like the only concert I can get her to go to. But my gf has never seen the Jazz Singer. I'm thinking she really needs to come over and watch it.
