Prologue
It was just a week for Nino to be able to go out and hung out with his friends when he starting to notice Aiba was coming less often to see him and he would leave early. When he asked Aiba what was going on, he would blush and tell him there was a surprise when he could go out of the house. Nino tried making Ohno to tell him what was happening with Aiba, but Ohno wouldn’t spill a thing.
The day came, the three went for ice cream and Aiba shared the news that he was dating a guy. It was really a surprise and Nino was shocked, he never imagined Aiba liking boys, but as seeing Aiba fidgeting he let the surprise pass quickly and congratulated him with a big smile saying that only a man could deal with him.
“So, you find someone that isn’t scared of your stupidity? Poor guy”
Aiba pouted “Ohno, Nino is being mean”
Ohno and Nino laughed at Aiba expenses for the whole day.
“So, is it okay with you?” asked Aiba later lest worried but still with a little fear in his eyes.
“Why wouldn’t be okay? The question is when I am going to meet him?” said Nino.
”Oh, Ohno doesn’t know him yet, I wanted to introduce him to you together, I’ll call him right now” Aiba left the table to talk on the phone.
“Oh-chan, we got to make sure his guy is good to Masaki, okay”
Ohno smiled “I think he is, Masaki has been smiling more this past weeks”
“Yeah, I noticed”
Aiba returned telling them that his boyfriend was on his way and excited to meet them. But he wasn’t coming alone, his cousin was with him, apparently he was staying with him for now.
And that’s when Nino saw him again, that guy with the smile entered the store and walked directly to their table, looking straight to Aiba’s eyes. It can’t be was Nino’s tough.
“Sho-chan! Guys, this is my boyfriend, Sakurai Sho. These are Nino-kun and Oh-chan”
When Sakurai met his eyes, Nino though his smile cracked for a second there, but what would he know, he was trembling all inside, the feelings he harboured from the first time he saw him returning at full force, this was the worst that could happen; the guy he likes so much that he almost dies for is Aiba’s boyfriend. He had to take a moment to calm himself, he excuse himself to go to the toilet, in his way there he bumped into a tall guy, but as he didn’t care at the moment he tried to get to the toilet without a proper apology, except that guy stood on his way forcing him to lift his head to look at him. The young man was attractive for sure but Nino didn’t care at the moment, whoever this guy was looking at him with great amusement in his eyes witch made Nino mad, he muttered a quick Sorry and pushed his way through ignoring the smirk on that guy’s face.
Nino washed his face trying to calm his beating heart, his head was starting to hurt and he felt lost. How was he supposed to pretend to be happy for Aiba when there was this feeling of jealousy creeping into his heart. He needed to find an excuse to be alone and think about this whole mess, so he returned to the table with a plan in his mind, but someone new there was there…
“Nino, this is Sho-chan’s cousin, Matsumoto Jun”
“Nice to meet you” said Matsumoto with a glint in his eyes and a smile.
“Hi” was Nino’s short and annoyed respond.
“Why don’t we go t-…” Aiba was starting to talk
“Guys, I don’t feel too good; I think I should go home and rest a little.”
“Are you okay, Nino-chan, does your leg hurt?” said Aiba worried
“A little, but it’s nothing big I should just rest for a while” Nino assured him with a forced smile.
“I’ll go with you” said Ohno quickly.
“Oh-chan, It’s not n-…”
“Sakurai-kun, Matsumoto-kun, it was very nice to meet you. We will hang out some other day” Ohno was polite and quickly drag Nino outside, so he just followed him.
They walked to his house, and he could fell Ohno’s worried glances on him “It’s not that bad Oh-chan, I can get home alone, you sh-…”
“Are you going to tell him?”
Nino didn’t understood what he was talking about.
“That you like Sakurai-kun. Are you going to tell Aiba-chan?”
Nino panicked and tried to denied it “Wh- what are you talking about Oh-chan?”
“You don’t have to lie to me Nino, I saw you that day, the way you looked at him. And today you looked broken-hearted”
There was again that suspicion that Ohno could read his mind.
They stayed quiet until they reached his house, “I will say nothing. It can be only for the worst, beside it was a simple crush, it means nothing now” was Nino’s soft reply.
“Um, if you said so. I understand that you won’t say anything but don’t lie to yourself about your feelings, it won’t help you get over this.”
“I told you it me-“
“See you tomorrow Nino” Ohno left.
That night Nino didn’t eat, which wasn’t that weird, instead he play his games trying to cool down his thoughts, but nothing was working. After several hours he gave up, he felt that destiny was playing with his heart and there was really no scape for it, Aiba was his friend and avoiding his boyfriend wasn’t an option, he will have to learn to be around him for Aiba. As he came to this resolution a silent tear was dropped and a bitter smile was plastered in his face.
