I find this incredibly insulting. It's a new Dell division aimed at women, called Della. Here are some excerpts (well, really, the whole thing) from the "Tech Tips" page ( Read more... )

interesting...

i want MY demographic represented too! how unfair! :)

the whole blurb sounds like they took the business and sports demographics and merged them.

some of those tips are actually useful. the majority of people just aren't that computer saavy. the ebook reading thing alone is gold for some. however, see below for something more chewy.

actually, a top level feature, from what i can see is Dell's Design Studio, which allows you to tailor many/all? laptops they sell, regardless of demographic. It's just a feature. the 100+ designs/etc.

chewy: apparently they were WORSE on rev1, but are improving, and learning...

so, while it might be bad now, yeah, they were far worse. their own search engine points to things that no longer exist on the site, including apparently, the same tips on the "jack of all trades" side.

however, i'm not calling a boycott on them. other companies (like apple), have done far worse (in other ways) throughout the years, as we're still buying that.

instead, i'll let them improve their marketing practices, and take a guess that they will excel and fixing their gaffe. the ARE one of the #1 pc companies for a reason.
