Isolated pennies...

The check has been signed, the contract sent, the plane tickets scouted, the passport is coming in the mail, and the money collected. It is official… I shall visit England this summer and interact with its peoples.

God have mercy on them. ^.^

Does this mean I can relax? No. As a matter of fact I have to work harder now to make ends meet for Anime Iowa this September and fall tuition. Being gone six weeks means I loose six weeks pay. It doesn’t help that preparation for this trip has been more expensive than I can imagine.

Yesterday I paid to get my passport at the local courthouse. I had gone there with lots of cash and my passport photos I had gotten a few days before at Kinko’s. (The photos looked like I had lost 48 hours sleep and was jetlagged through Hell, which was pretty much what I was going to look like when I got off the plane anyway, so I prided myself for getting such an accurate picture.) I get to the courthouse and hand the paperwork to the nice lady behind the counter. They wouldn’t take cash.

D’oh! ><

So, I go and get a check, come back, she signs the paper and tells me to raise my right hand.

I raised my left. >< *bonk*

At least the woman and I were getting a good laugh out of it. In total $160 for a passport. That left in my wallet…..

Nil.

I don’t like nil. Nil and I aren’t the best of friends. Jack and Jill went up a hill met Nil and said “chiiiiiiill”. But I have alternative ways of getting money quickly. *Mwahaha!*

I made a deal with my little brother, Fred, who, at the time of the deal, was at work trying to convince Mom to let him go to the midnight première of Episode III. One cell phone number later…

“Fred, I’ll make a deal with you. I’ll do all your laundry.”

“…”

“Fred?”

“What’s the catch?”

“Either you pay me… $7.50, or I get to keep all the loose change I find on your floor.”
“*laugh* You can keep the change on the floor!”

“Deal.”

Oh… poor poor Fred. ^^

I walked down the stairs into his domain, which we call Hell because of the flammage painted on the walls in red and black. His room has the most FUNKY AND NAUSEATING STENCH KNOWN TO MAN!! I picked up all his clothes; on the floor, over the couch, under dishes… he had enough to keep Goodwill going strong for a few more years. All the while I was picking up tarnished pennies, mildewed nickels, dusty dimes, and quarters.

When Fred got home later that night he was greeted with four loads of laundry: colored, white, black, and heavy. He didn’t expect me to walk away $11 richer! ^_^

So, now I have a lil pocket money for gas and any other expenses. I am still on my resolution to buy no manga and no anime for 6 months, and I am actually grateful for the money I saved in doing so. I never realized how much money I spent to fuel my otaku lifestyle.

I got a commission from a friend for a picture that should be done in a few more days. Other than that I have had no time for posting on DA. Though I’m glad to see Nique has some stuff added to her gallery! ^_^ w00t!

Considering that from now on I’ll be working 7 days a week I don’t think I’ll be able to talk or hang out with any of my friends. *cry* At this rate the only time I’ll see them this summer is for A.I.

BTW to anyone who cares… Tian Long Ba Bu rocks!

Now I have to get to sleep so I can get to work bright and early tomorrow. G’night!

*huggles and loves to Meggie, Dana, Nique, and… Kado… yes, at this point I’m even missing him*
