Dear Hurt/Comfort Exchange Writer

Mar 03, 2019 18:38

Hi, thanks for writing for me! I hope this letter is helpful. I've organised a lot of my tags into groups to make this letter easier to write, but definitely don't feel like you have to write more than one of them. (Unless you want to, then please go ahead!)

Likes: Hurt/comfort, emotional hurt, physical hurt, sickfic (esp. vomiting), angst, humour, fluff, friendship, family relationships, romance, first time, established relationship, friends-to-lovers, character studies, gay/bi characters, coming out stories, episode tags/missing scenes, backstory, mission fic, telepathy/empathy, cultural differences, happy endings

Dislikes: Hurt without comfort, death or permanent injury of requested characters, unrequested noncon, incest, victim-blaming, character bashing, AUs, unrequested pairings, asexual/aromantic/nonbinary headcanons, jealousy/possessiveness, crossovers, first and second POV, explicit sex, abusive/neglectful parents, sexism/homophobia among humans and/or Starfleet

Fandoms:

Star Trek AOS - Kirk/Spock (hurt Spock), Kirk&Spock (hurt Spock)

All I've ever wanted from this fandom is hurt Spock being comforted and supported, and there just isn't enough of it. So, please, let Kirk (and anyone else you want to include) give the poor guy the comfort he needs. I like both gen and slash, so any of these can be done as either.

Aftermath of Tragedy/Catastrophe, Character bottling up emotions is coaxed into expressing them, Character Finally Allows Themself to Grieve, Character Finds New Normal After Trauma, Character Will Never Be the Same After Traumatic Experience, Exhaustion, Forced to relive trauma through psychic attack, Grief/Mourning, Homesickness, Nightmares, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD, Survivor Guilt, Touch-Starved, Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms:

Basically I just really want to see Spock deal with the aftermath of Vulcan's destruction. We don't see a lot of it on screen, but it must have had a huge impact on him and the other Vulcans, so pretty much anything that shows his pain and trauma (and the ways Kirk supports him/helps him through it) would be great.

Bullying, Character Defends Another Character From Bigots, Character verbally defends someone who isn't standing up for themself, Self-Esteem Issues:

Some of my favourite scenes in TOS are Kirk defending Spock from prejudice, so I'd love to see some of that here.

Character Doesn't Understand They Were Abused, Character's abusive childhood is revealed, Childhood Trauma, Past abuse revealed, Seeing Abuser After A Long Time, Traumatic Backstory Revelations:

I'd be interested in seeing a Spock who was abused by a family member or teacher or family friend when he was younger, on Vulcan or even at the academy, and Kirk finding out about it and comforting him. I'm fine with any kind of abuse for this one - physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, whatever, though I'd prefer his parents weren't involved in it. (I'm fine with them being not-so-great parents to him, but not abusive or neglectful.)

Vomiting: Can be from illness or motion sickness or emotional issues or any other reason.

Fandom specific DNWs: References to STID (Beyond is fine), hurt Kirk, Spock having a sister, Stonn being one of Spock's bullies, Vulcans having a lower body temperature than humans

Star Trek Discovery - Pike & Discovery Crew (hurt Pike)

I really like Pike, which of course means part of me wants to see him suffer. :) I kind of intended "Discovery Crew" to be the crew in general, but I'm more than happy for you to pick just one or two of them. Michael is my favourite, but I love all the major characters - Stamets, Tilly, Saru, etc, so pick whoever you like. (Does Ash count as part of the crew? He was at one point. Anyway, feel free to include him as well.)

Allergies: I'd prefer the more "annoying" level of allergy than the "life-threatening" kind, but whatever you want to go with is fine.

Character insists on completing mission despite injuries, Character is Injured while Protecting Another, Collapsing from exhaustion, Downplaying an Injury, Exhaustion, Forcing Exhausted Character to Get Some Sleep, Headaches & Migraines, Hurt Character is Exhausted from Overwork, Ordered to leave commanding officer behind: Basically I just like the idea of Pike being all heroic and self-sacrificing, right up until it all catches up with him and he has to stop.

Nausea: So, according to Pike's file, he suffers from space sickness. I'm assuming this isn't usually a major issue since, well, he's in Starfleet, but maybe the inertial dampeners or artifical gravity go on the fritz and our poor captain has to suffer through it?

Smiling to Hide the Pain, Using Humor To Deflect Attention From Emotional Turmoil: I saw a post on Tumblr that suggested that some of Pike's positive attitude might be a mask, in the belief that the crew doesn't need to see their captain struggling, and since then I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. So I'd love to see what happens when the mask falls.

Survivor Guilt: He obviously has a lot of guilt about missing the war, even though it wasn't his fault and it probably wouldn't have made any difference anyway. I could see the Discovery crew having some guilt as well, given they skipped over half the war during their mirror universe adventure, and I'm curious how those two things might intersect. (It's also not clear whether Pike knows that Michael was partly responsible for starting the war, and I feel like that could be an interesting conversation.)

Team as Family: I really like the family vibes of the crew, how much they all care about and support each other, and I'd love to see more of that.

ETA 6/4/19: After seeing episode 12 I'd like to add that I'd really prefer not to get anything dealing with Pike's knowledge of his future. It's just too depressing to me.

Star Trek TOS - Kirk/Spock (hurt Spock), Kirk&Spock (hurt Spock), Kirk/Spock (hurt Kirk), Kirk&Spock (hurt Kirk)

I love how much Kirk and Spock care about each other, and how warm and affectionate they are, and all I really want is to see more of that. I like slash and gen equally, so any of these (with the exception of the last three which I've listed separately) can be written as either.

Kirk/Spock (hurt Spock), Kirk&Spock (hurt Spock)

Accidental Soul Bond: I've always liked the fanon that Kirk and Spock's minds are unusually compatible, so anything exploring that would be great. (Though I'd be grateful if you could avoid going down the "awesome t'hy'la bond that has only been seen once in many centuries" route. Their bond can be special without being that special.)

Character Defends Another Character From Bigots: Some of my favourite scenes in the show are Kirk defending Spock from prejudice, and I'd love to see more of that.

Character being protected isn't used to being cared about, Character isn't used to being loved and shown tenderness/affection, Childhood Trauma, Self-Esteem Issues, Touch-Starved: The bullying and ostracism in Spock's childhood clearly left him with a lot of scars, and I'd like to see how that affects his life with Kirk.

Character bottling up emotions is coaxed into expressing them: Kirk is great at this in canon, it feels like he really understands Spock in a way that no one else does.

Experiencing Another's Pain Through Psychic Bond: I love the bond between Kirk and Spock, so anything exploring that would be great.

Telepathic injury: I'd love a situation where Spock's telepathic abilities end up hurting him rather than helping. Maybe he's attacked by some kind of telepathic weapon? Or has to deal with the aftereffects of his meld with V'Ger?

Vomiting: Illness, motion sickness, food poisoning, whatever. This is one of my favourite kinds of h/c, so I'm not really picky.

Kirk/Spock (hurt Kirk), Kirk&Spock (hurt Kirk)

Accidental Soul Bond: As above, I've always liked the fanon that Kirk and Spock's minds are unusually compatible, so anything exploring that would be great. (Aside from the above mentioned "awesome t'hy'la bond that has only been seen once in many centuries" idea.)

Childhood Trauma, Forced to relive trauma through psychic attack, Forgetting to eat, Nightmares, Starvation, Survivor Guilt, Traumatic Backstory Revelations: Yes, please give me all the Tarsus IV trauma. I'd love to see him confiding in Spock, or Spock helping him deal with nightmares, etc.

Experiencing Another's Pain Through Psychic Bond: As above, I love the bond between Kirk and Spock, so anything exploring that would be great.

Headaches & Migraines: Kirk's seen suffering from headaches several times during the show, so it's possible he has migraines as well.

Vomiting: As above, this is one of my favourite kinds of h/c, so I don't mind whether it's from illness, food poisoning, emotional issues, or anything else you can think of.

Kirk/Spock (hurt Spock)

Everyone Thinks They're Together - They're Pining: I feel like this trope was made for this pairing. I kind of love the idea of other characters just assuming that they're together and being completely surprised at the news that that's not (yet) the case.

Inexperienced Character is Afraid of Not Being Able to Sexually Please Experienced Partner: I could see Spock having issues with this, especially since the experience he does have in canon is all when he's not in his right mind. I'd like to see Kirk convincing him that it doesn't matter and he can teach Spock whatever he needs to know. For this prompt, I'm okay with you ignoring the "explicit sex" DNW.

Mating Cycles/In Heat: Pon farr! I love the idea of Spock being worried about potentially hurting Kirk and Kirk having to kind of coax him into it, and then it all turns out fine in the end. If possible I'd prefer this as an established relationship, but I'm okay with first time. For this prompt, I'm okay with you ignoring the "explicit sex" DNW.

Fandom specific DNWs: Spock having a sister, Vulcans having a lower body temperature than humans

Thanks again!
