I am living in a colony!!
So, E and I were discussing local politics, and I came to the conclusion that we have the exact same local views, no matter how much we disagree in the larger scale. We both want more parks, more street lighting, more/better schools, and library funding.
I asked E who I should vote for in the upcoming election, because he reads the paper and knows these kinds of details (I read Maxim, Jane, and Madeleine's live journal, none of which help me with politics). He informed me that there is no one to vote for--we have no town council and no mayor. All our funding goes to Bakersfield (the county seat, about an hour away) and they make the decisions about us.
What is this? I am living in a colony! I want a rebellion! Let's throw some tea, uhm, out in the desert! Yeah!
