So my laptop is back from repair.
FINALLY. It's been almost two months.
I'm not even going to explain all the bullshit that happened, but both ASUS and Fed-Ex messed up a couple of times. Regardless, I don't care. Jeff is back and it's wonderful.
Oh, yeah, right, this:
Early Christmas present from my brother, since he had to order the tickets a while before Christmas.
SO, YEAH, I'M GOING. So happy. I get to go on a train and everything. I can't wait ;v; I love New York City in December. It's crowded, miserable, cold, and loud. Just my type of place.
For Supercard of Honor back in May, I went with my brother and three of his friends. It was lots of fun and I really like his friends (THEY LIKE ME, TOO. THEY CALL ME JENNA AND EVERYTHING AND WE ALL WATCH PAY PER VIEWS AT HOOTERS TOGETHER FFFF I LOVE THEM) but this time, it's just my brother and I, which is really nice, since I get to go on a journey with him without subconsciously considering three other people in the factor.
Supercard of Honor was more like an experience than just a show. I say this because it was a day-long affair. Between the trains (I love trains so much) and the New York atmosphere and getting to sit in a New York City Starbucks and eavesdrop on hipster phone conversations and waiting in line (yes, even waiting in line was an experience) and stuffing into the elevator with a bunch of neckbeards and saying hello to the Machine Guns and the show and then SEEING DELIRIOUS UNMASKED ON THE TRAIN RIDE HOME. It was a really exciting day. ;v;
Trains and shit. I love my brother so much. He's given me so much without asking for anything in return ;v;
We're seated in the same place we were for Supercard of Honor, that is, second row balcony. Hellza ballza.
Speaking of tickets, Dragon Gate USA tickets are works of art.
(The funny part is that Jon Moxley isn't even on the card) What the fuck, Jenna, yes he is.
The Dragon Gate USA logo is fucking reflective. Like, holographic, almost. This shit is really well made. Like, the ROH ticket is made out of flimsy ticket material. Dragon Gate USA has like, fucking cardboard. They mean business with their tickets.
The DGUSA show is next weekend, by the way. Aries was confirmed for it. I'm fucking pumped and have little else to say.
Oh, fuck, I had something else to mention but I don't remember what.
Oh, right, Japanese nu jazz.
I was looking for a rapidshare of Perfume's Triangle album despite the fact that I have a copy sitting on my desktop and came across
this completely by chance and, on a whim, downloaded it because I liked the cover. This is the first time in my entire life that a cover of anything decided whether or not I paid any attention to it. Oh my God it was so worth it. I've always had an appreciation of jazz, just without a strong enough desire to actually get into it. The same can be said for straight hip-hop. This kind of combined those both and it's really really good. Really good. I totally suggest it. The second, third, and fourth tracks just make me want to ffff. Really, really, good.
I finished Terra's story in Birth by Sleep and am a little over half way through Ventus's. Birth by Sleep is such a good game. I really like Ventus. I just kind of want to eat cereal with him.
I'm vaguely considering playing Persona 3 Portable again. Odds are I won't do it, but oh my God, to even have the slightest desire to play it again not even a week after beating it, even though it's only like, a week-long project is just crazy. There's no reason for this, Jenna. Speaking of Persona 3 Portable, let's talk about it some more, because 1100 words isn't enough.
Why would they even give you this choice? At first glance, I thought they were trying to convey a feeling of powerlessness only because it's the same tactic employed by Shadow of the Colossus (i.e.: giving the player some amount of control at a point when, no matter what they do, they'll reach the same end) but that just doesn't make sense. In some way of execution, the point of this choice was lost on me, if there even was one at all. There are plenty of moments in games where you're given choices that lead to the same point just for the sake of adding a bit of interactivity, but this choice in question is the last thing you do in the game so I'd imagine there would be some significance in it. To my knowledge and just by what common sense dictates, it changes absolutely nothing.
It's a moot point and seems tacked on, but at the same time, if it went ">Your eyelids feel heavy... >You close your eyes..." it would seem rushed. There's not clean way out of this. Either you rush the scene (and give the player no say in the last moments of their character, which is a bit cruel, even for ATLUS) or give the player a useless choice.
(So, I'm not saying that there should have been no choice, just that the entire scene is muddy, sensitive territory and is difficult to handle)
The only solution I can think of would be to have something different happen in both choices. Like, should you pick the second option, have the character you're with say something about it (For example I can imagine Aigis saying something to the effect of "It's okay. I don't mind."), because it's implying that the player character sticks around for a bit longer. Anything to make it seem like the player actually has even a bit of control in the situation, because that's what you try to establish when giving choices.
HOLD ON. WAIT. I HAVE AN IDEA.
At the same time, one of the game's prominent themes is "memento mori," which is extended to time and death waiting for no one. It would seem inappropriate for a simple choice to alter death's course.
I just changed my mind. The choice changing nothing is appropriate, well-placed, and warranted. Oh my God, Jenna, get a life.
(I really want to play Shadow of the Colossus now. If I start now, I'll probably finish before the sun goes down. LOL GET A LIFE)
