[He comes down the stairs, with a candle lighting the way. He places it on the counter next to Aoko and listens to her conversation over the phone, before he adds his two cents]
I don't think you're gonna get your answers from anyone over that thing, Aoko.
[Her eyes flicker up to him with the arrival of the candle, quietly relieved that he's there -- both in proximity and not out in the storm. And maybe she won't get any answers, but it makes her feel better, talking and making a connection with someone else.]
I hate storms. Especially now -- it's like one of those bad horror movies where you're just waiting for someone to come around the corner with the chain saw.
[Briefly Aoko wonders what would happen with both Kaito and Hakuba in the same room -- because she suspects Kaito is here somewhere. (Or is half-hoping he is.)]
[Probably nothing good can come of that. But still, she feels a bit bad . . . Hakuba probably doesn't have much going on over where he is, and she certainly wouldn't like to be alone in a storm.]
It's raining pretty hard, though . . . wouldn't you be nervous about the lightning?
