. . .

Why is the power out?

At least it's daylight now, but it's creepy . . . especially with the storms. Hopefully they'll go away before tonight ( Read more... )

I hate storms. Especially now -- it's like one of those bad horror movies where you're just waiting for someone to come around the corner with the chain saw.

Do you want me to come over? I'm not doing much here at home.

[Briefly Aoko wonders what would happen with both Kaito and Hakuba in the same room -- because she suspects Kaito is here somewhere. (Or is half-hoping he is.)]

[Probably nothing good can come of that. But still, she feels a bit bad . . . Hakuba probably doesn't have much going on over where he is, and she certainly wouldn't like to be alone in a storm.]

It's raining pretty hard, though . . . wouldn't you be nervous about the lightning?

[he glances out the window at the storm]

I have my jacket back, so the rain won't be a bother. At any rate, the lightning would strike the houses long before it struck me.

I'll be over in a tick, if you'll tell me what your address is.

[She chews on the inside of her cheek for a moment. Kaito's probably here. And he won't like it. But . . . She can't just let Hakuba sit over there in the storm by himself.]

1762 Beaver Street. But be careful.

[If he had known Aoko was doing this out of pity for him, he would have been mortified, considering the only reason he offered was out of pity for her.]

Don't worry about me, Aoko-kun.

[Pity party at Kaito's house!]

Mm. You can say that, but I'll feel better when you're back in the house.
