A scanlation related rant.

I'm not going to cut corners and just be absolutely blunt and honest about this. Some (or a lot) may not agree with me, but this is my stance on the whole Mangafox fiasco and how scanlators are handling it (or not handling it, rather).

I can't remember of mangastream is part of mangafox or not :|a like if the same dude owns it. But yeah, it was Mangafox that started this whole mess. Most groups were already side-eying online readers, but it wasn't until MF changed their policy did groups really get up in arms.

But yeah, it's not that I don't see why or where they're coming from in terms of credits, but it's also kind of...unrealistic? It's exactly like you said: when it comes to fanstuff, people are more interested in the object rather than who made it. It's completely different from an original work where both the work and the creator are sought after.

And you're also right about popular series: more than one group scanlate them. Which actually makes another issue: some groups are put off if THEY aren't the first to be released. So you lose quality over the fact that you got it out first. The main and good argument about that is readers just want the chapter. Once it's out, why wait for another group's later release except if you're a fan of their quality/work? So you have that issue/problem, too, and it's just...eeh. It's like treating scanlation more like a business kind of.

But yeah it's what you say Beaky. SCANLATE FOR LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE >O
