You know, it isn't easy to lose you. Let me offer that from experience.
And for whatever reason the two of you broke up, whatever reason sent you two apart, the wounds are probably very deep still and "close friends" is probably not all that easy at this time.
It is actually really hard for a lot of people to just move on and hear that someone they still Love very much is out fooling around or considering fooling around with other people (unless of course you are true Poly). If he doesn't contact you now it is because he is hurting or because he is making the adjustment to not having you anymore.
On top of all of that, he lost "face," he lost his lifestyle, he lost years of his life, he lost his place in your family, and he lost the greatest of things that one can lose: YOU.
I am sure you are grieving as well in some way, but remember not all people grieve or as hard as you in the face of grief. Sometimes, when one has lost something or someone really precious, it takes a while to recover, it takes distance and absence and time to mourn.
I have no doubt you two will be friends in the future. You are a light that one returns to.
Point of clarification--I wasn't referencing Mike in this post. Mike and I are, at this point, still good friends who enjoy each other's company very much. The gentleman I'm talking about is named Aaron/Bedlam.
