I finished watching the Nationals. Now I have no more animated tennis to watch, unless you count the terrible animated movie and even worse live-action movie. Whatever will I do??
I kind of watched a lot today. I actually can't remember where I started, haha... oh wait. The last thing I watched yesterday was the Prince of Beach Volleyball, and then I couldn't watch anymore because I couldn't breathe. SO. AMAZING. The manga itself was amazing, but the animated version was both amazing and TERRIFYING. I reeeeally never needed to see Ryuzaki-sensei's boobs jiggle. Aaaaaaargh. But I'm SO glad they kept poor Inui getting accidentally pantsed! I was afraid they wouldn't put it in, ahahahahaha. Poor, poor Inui. But the best part was Echizen FAILING SPECTACULARLY.
ECHIZEN: Next I'll try a Twist Serve!
TEZUKA: Don't you even dare.
I think I howled every single time he got hit on the head with the volleyball, and that happened a LOT. Also, ROKKAKU <3333333333333333333333333333 BEST SCHOOL EVER!!!! I know I say that about several schools, but whatever!! ROKKAKUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!! I totally want to marry Davide. He and Shinji and I can have the creepiest relationship ever. IT IS GENIUS.
Oh man. So the first one I watched today then was 'Momo Gets In Touch With Nature and Somehow Schools Everyone WTF SHOW'. It was worth it for Yuushi <3 but srsly WHAAAAAAT?? My theory is that while he was meditating on that rock he was kidnapped by wood nymphs and inducted into the clan. What? It makes as much sense as the actual plot. Oh show.
Thankfully after that was EPIC GOLDEN PAIR TIME :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD I knew they had to lose which made me mad, but OMG. I was also EXCEEDINGLY PLEASED that they played Shishido-Ohtori. I LOVE THOSE TWO SO MUCH. SO MARRIED. SO AMAZING. SO GAY. :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Oh doubles pairings, ilu so much <33333333 Then there was Tezuka-Kabaji which was EPICALLY LAME and then Atobe-Echizen which can be summed up thusly:
ECHIZEN: The day to play against you has finally come, Mr Boss Monkey.
ATOBE: I don't know if you're called a prince or whatever, but I am the KING.

ACTUAL QUOTES, PEOPLE. Except the Momo one, which I misread. He actually says 'gag manga' but 'gay manga' is so much more apt. Oh Atobe ILUSOMUCH. I was really looking forward to bald Atobe because you KNOW he'd still be fabulous, but his shorn hair was pretty awesome too. Especially how it magically reappears later and Yuushi totally calls him on it and it's amazing and ATOBE <3 You're still an incredible bastard, but ILU anyway <333333333333333
The semifinals were almost entirely made of fail, so I'll just say: a) Fuji's match was emo, no love for stupid pretty captain, b) WTF CREEPIEST DOUBLES EVER ARGH GO AWAY FREAKS, c) TAKA-SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN/AKUTSU 4FR (I srsly wept through this one, hahaha...), d) ummmmm okay Inui/Tezuka doubles turns into Tezuka-Tachibana's BFF just because they can SIGH, e) no srsly Kintarou NO ONE CARES GO AWAY THE END
The Prince of Yakiniku was exceedingly creepy and also hilarious but mostly creepy. I highly enjoyed Eiji and Yuushi's gay commentary, especially Yuushi perving over Saeki HAHAHAHAHA. Though Oishi was so seriously creepy. He was totally channeling Shuuko, which is REALLY SCARY. Also Atobe's magically regrown hair!!! ILU SHOW. Also Yuushi <33333333
But the finals? ARGH. MADE OF FAIL. FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIL. It's like they tried to cram as much epic wangst and generally epicness into it as possible which made it LAME. I have come to the conclusion that I really hate Sanada, the boring bastard. There's only room for one authoritative dorkface on this show, GTFO. Tezuka >>>>>>>>>>>> Sanada ANY DAY. Except when he lost. Sigh. Stupid Rikkaidai. No srsly go away. The InuKai was pretty damn epic though. DEVIL KAIDOH! BLOODY INUI! KAIDOH'S ACTUAL SCREAM OF RAGE/DESPAIR/WANGST! INUI'S HEAD BANDAGE THROUGH WHICH HE CAN SEE/HEAR/TALK PERFECTLY! Sigh. Oh show. You so crazy.

The Fuji beatdown was also lame because srsly can we lay the TezuFuji to rest please?? We had an epic three-episode showdown with that in the series, THAT'S ENOUGH. Also the fact that they completely ignore the fact that everyone knew about the chibi!Tezu-chibi!Fuji match already from the aforementioned epic showdown just so they could inject more artificial drama. IT'S FUJI. HE IS A DRAMA QUEEN. THERE IS ENOUGH ALREADY. MOVING ON.
Oh, but I forgot about the biggest FAIL of all. I srsly can't believe they did this but CONVENIENT ECHIZEN AMNESIA??????????????????????????????????????????????????? WHY SHOW WHY. YOU WERE PLENTY LAME ENOUGH WITHOUT THIS. ARGH. It tried to provide some epic MomoRyo but that ship sailed looooong ago with the epic beatdownx2 in the series LET IT GO. IT EVEN HIJACKED MY GOLDEN PAIR EPISODE. THE LAST GOLDEN PAIR EPISODE EVER. FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIL SHOW.
I did still enjoy the incredible lameness of the Golden Pair bits I did get though. The whole Synchro thing is SIGH but still SQUEE. But srsly at the very end when Eiji jumps up onto Oishi and it's REALLY AWKWARDLY PLACED? NO FOR SRS LOOK. UMMMMMMM SHOULD WE BE SEEING THIS? THANK YOU FOR THAT, SHOW. GAH. But still adorableness and squee and love. :D
And then final episodes! Because of course, the epic Yukimura-Echizen battle had to stretch over two episodes. Of course. I came to the following conclusions:
1. Yukimura is actually a complete bastard WTF MAKING YOUR OPPONENTS LOSE ALL THEIR SENSES WTF
2. Sanada is still totally lame and I hate him
3. Echizen losing his hat will never not make me guffaw
4. Anyone who sparkles automatically wins
5. I'm really, really tired of Echizen
So that's it. End of show. The end of the regular series was far more satisfying, but what can you do? I'm just going to have to dive into Tenimyu and immerse myself in that amazingness for a while. We'll see if I can manage the other casts, but my heart will always belong to the original cast <333333333333333333333333333333333333333333
