Attention Deficit Ooh Shiny

Dec 13, 2010 20:12

Look look!  I have new shinies to share!  This one is picture heavy; readers with dial-up (does anyone still have that?) may want to grab a book or something.  Pictures below the cut.

First:  I finished spinning the blue stuff!  Yes, all of it.  (Assistant's front leg shown for scale.)

I think it's my best spinning so far.  It's remarkably even and has just the right amount of twist.  I was shooting for a silk-like sport-weight two-ply.

I got it.  And ended up with between 900 and 1000 yards of yarn, spun from ~12 oz of fiber.  Nom nom nom.  Big Plans for this stuff.

Second: cjblackwing 's Christmas gift to me arrived!  (She already opened hers.)

That's a spindle from babknits on Etsy.  It weighs 16 grams and has some kind of brooch or pendant (I think) as the whorl.  (Assistant's front paw included for scale.)

Puuuuuurty.  The other stuff is 1/2 ounce each of green and natural fiber that came with it.

Oh yes, meet my assistant:

He was interested in the fiber, but more interested in the noises the camera was making.

A lot more interested.

But wait - what has diverted his attention?

That would be the third shiny thing:  beads!  (Assistant nose included for... cuteness?)

Silver lined Capri Blue 6/0 Miyukis. 2 20-g tubes.  Mine, mine, all mine.  You can get your own here; I actually visited the store because my friend works there.  (I highly recommend that store.  Their prices and stock are excellent.)  These babies will be used in conjunction with the blue handspun for an upcoming Epic Design.

Well, my assistant has apparently clocked out for the night:

so I am going to hit 'post' and go knit something.  Or spin.  Or...

spinning, crafting, knitting related
