I haven't been able to secure a place to stay in or near the city this weekend, so i think it's safe to stay at this point that i won't be going to the Subculture + Style Symposium at FIT after all. I'm really bummed about this, especially since Rick Owens is one of the speakers and the subject matter is everything a fashion-geek-ista like me could

no worries lady...i totally understand. the hostel thing isn't really an option for me. i don't think i'd feel comfortable going to one by myself and leaving a suitcase full of rick owens and ann demeulemeester crap there while i'm out (what can i say...i'm just not the backpack-traveling, one-outfit-wearing type).

if something changes i'll let you know, though. was hoping to get to the barneys warehouse sale and thought you might be interested in checking it out with me.

it's mostly the lack of privacy thing. i honestly feel weird enough about staying with people i know reasonable well...but sleeping in the same room and sharing a bathroom with strangers quite honestly creeps me out. yet another reason you'll never see me at burning-man type events...or shared a room in college, for that matter.

...yeah, i know. i'm a pain-in-the-ass snot.

I feel you 100% on the not wanting to leave luggage behind. It looks like we'd have to do that too since I'm for some reason not being able to hear back from the friend we're supposed to be staying with. Ugh. Sorry this all has to be so confusing! I wish I could do more to help all of us out with this...
