Miscellany - Writing Woes and Whatnots

I am up to page 300 (of 480-ish) in the revision of To The Touch. That seemed like a good place to stop for the weekend. I am crossing my fingers that the weather won't preempt preschool again next week. Much as I am a fan of snowstorms, these marathon pajama days with the Kinglet aren't doing either one of us any good, professionally speaking ( Read more... )

I had lots of writing plans for this weekend and none of them happened. It's frustrating but then, if we abandonned our loved one to lock ourselves up and write, we'd probably regret it one day. That's what I tell myself anyway.
Your having a good influence on me: I feel like reading poetry! I'll probably start by borrowing a book from the library although I've just remembered that I bought The Norton Anthology of Poetry from the lost and found in the library back when I was a library assistant. I've just looked in the cupboard and found it too. I have DH Lawrence's complete poetry left from when I was at uni.
I have to say that kids poetry also helped reconciling me with the genre. We have a very funny book of poems entitled There's a Lion in my Bathroom.
Which anthology did you get?

I bought "Best American Poems 2010" - or some variation on that title. It has a breathtaking piece by Fleda Brown, who is the former poet laureate of Delaware, among others. Normally I would only grab something like that off the shelf to read while the Kinglet plays in the children's area, but knowing that I'll be filing as a freelancer next year and that I can write if off as a business expense (because, truly, it IS craft-related) has a certain sigh-worthy appeal.

I know the feeling. I've got a few books that I can add to my expenses too, not that it will make a huge difference as I earn peanuts but it makes me feel GOOD!

I'll never stop on the poetry. I can't, haven't been able to since nine years old. And as always I admire the other side of the fence, the other side of the stream and the half-imagined shore on the other side of the sea (that shore I think now I'll never see again). And...I will always have met you, though only thru this medium.
