I'm doing something I've been wanting to do for decades. I'm finishing something I first attempted when I was thirteen and failed.
Today, I visited the orthodontist and got spacers put between my teeth in preparation for next week's braces installation. It's strangely exciting, and I keep having to remind myself that it's going to be over a year, and a jaw surgery, before I finally finish this long overdue project.
It doesn't hurt as much as they led me to believe so far. I wouldn't even go so far as to describe it as discomfort. Certainly it doesn't require the recommended Tylenol or Advil. It feels like I flossed with elastics, and they're still stuck there. It's a bit challenging to chew, not because of any pain, but because there really are elastics in the way of my bite.
I guess I should have eaten up all the nuts and popcorn in the house last week though.
