Getting a manicure and a pedicure is a wonderful way to spend an hour or two when you have a day off, especially when you have the excuse of having to look at least vaguely nice at a wedding in the near future.
Getting a manicure and a pedicure is not, however, a good way to convince oneself to accomplish the remaining chores in the day. I could weed the garden - but not with my nails like this. The same goes for washing the dishes, cleaning the kitchen, working on my wire crochet project, and just about anything else. On the other hand, I have just enough of a guilty conscience to feel bad about sitting around and doing nothing all afternoon. Especially when, given my chosen profession, the odds of making it through until the 26th with nail polish intact are remarkably slim.
Right now, though, I have pretty nails and am therefore forced into a couple of hours of leisure. Woe is me....
