Return from Spring Rehearsal!

Mar 08, 2010 11:02

So, I just got back from a weekend of near-constant singing. :D Spirit Wind spring rehearsal is a lot more than that, but I do love the singing.

Highlights of the weekend:
  • Our new director is amazing! (and is another point to McMurray in the "see what college Katie attends" competition) Apparently we have an assistant director too, who seems to be amazing as well. We also had a temporary director Saturday afternoon because our real one had to go back to Abilene... Former SW member, and a ton of fun to sing for. :)
  • Once again, I was put in the same host home as all three Elizabeths. Fun fun fun... although even my natural nocturnality isn't enough to keep me from being exhausted from lack of sleep because of them.
  • One of our songs this year is very, very familiar to me. When I was in the choir at FUMC Floydada, we sang it about once a month. Now, if Spirit Wind will ever do "As the Deer", I will be more than happy. :D
  • I'm going to have to work on my music theory a lot if I'm going to figure out what I'm playing this year... *sigh* but I am going to play! Happy Katie, perhaps not so happy loading crew when they meet my larger harp... and its coffin-travel-box. I may take pity on them and add wheels to it.
  • Somehow, I ended up getting the hiccups during the last half-hour or so of rehearsal. Singing while afflicted with hiccups... is not fun. More, it's slightly embarrassing and really, really difficult. I was also in the front row, so I was doing my best not to accidentally crack up our temp director and make everyone have to start over again. They went away right after rehearsal was over... God certainly has a sense of humor. :)
  • I think the soprano section is very loud this year... or rather, Audrey and I were the only ones not talking at some point during rehearsal. Then again, that's normal. haha
So, I'm probably leaving a lot out... but I need to catch up on my sleep. *yawn* Therefore, that's the end of this entry.
