Introducing 'plumfield' and an update of sorts

Sep 23, 2011 03:44

Quick update since i haven't had access to LJ for nearly a week. to be honest I really missed it a lot especially as i was stuck at home on enforced holiday, which majorly sucked.

Still I have made a decision on what I am doing for Nano this year. it's all planned and as soon as I can find some casting images I will see about doing another picspam as I think that worked really well last year.
Here's the blurb so you can see what i've come up with and I've got an intro to the characters and the story coming up....

When Abraham Stokely of Plumfield brings home French adventuress Marie-Angelique Poquelin as his latest mistress it changes the lives of all three of his children and not for the better...

Tobias his eldest son is trying so hard to do the right thing. Ever since the death of their mother Toby has had to be mature and act as the man of the house.
He wants to make his fortune in the Army and then some day become the heir that Plumfield needs. One day he longs to marry the fair Viola Burleigh his childhood sweetheart. But when Marie-Angelique lays eyes on him and pursues him no matter the cost he's trapped in a dangerous web of desire that can only lead to strife between him and Bram?

Samuel Stokely is the clever peaceable one of the family. Educated at Eton and Cambridge, he's Bram's favoured son.
When he sees the conflict Marie-Angelique is stirring up he decides to try and save his family. Sam falls for his sister's maid Anna and the two share a sweet fragile romance across the divides of social class and race.
Marie-Angelique puts a spoke in the wheel and a distraught Anna disappears from the family home and into the dangers of 18th century London. Sam will do anything to find her and bring her back to him.

Sophie Stokely is the flower of her father’s eye. His lily without a flaw. He is determined for her to marry into the nobility. He denies her nothing to make her an accomplished prize for a Marquis or maybe even a Duke!
Sophie knows her duty but is sorely tempted by Paolo Benzonini, a handsome Italian music tutor hired by her father and Marie-Angelique.
But does the music teacher have an ulterior motive and will Sophie forget her duty as she is given to the lecherous old Lord Marston? Can her loving brothers and Viola save her from her folly in time to save her reputation? Can Sophie wake up and realise that she is adored by Sam’s friend Rupert who would be an ideal husband if he wasn’t a Cit and sneered upon by the snobbish Bram?

The siblings team up to be rid of Marie-Angelique’s insidious influence and heal their family. Can they succeed? Or will their father’s rashness ruin every hope they have of happiness?
Plumfield is a rich complex romp of a family saga set in the 18th century in the vein of Henry Fielding, Samuel Richardson, Elizabeth Hoyt and Diana Gabaldon combining romance, adventure and unforgettable characters.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be very welcome.I always like to know what people think of my story ideas and at least I haven't left it to the last minute like last year!

'Songbirds' is ticking along at 130k. I would love another pair of eyes on it as it's changed quite a bit since anyone's read it but we'll see. I'm not abandoning it at all. I really want to finish eventually and get it as close to publishable as possible. but I'd also like to write Plumfield as well.
