I seem to have developed laryngitis over the weekend. I think it might have something to do with walking around Shinjuku (part of Tokyo) in the rain. Once upon a time I had an immune system. And tomorrow's classes are always the ones I end up yelling at. Shinjuku was fun, but it kind of killed me.
We watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in Japanese yesterday. The dubbers did a fantastic job. It was fascinating to listen to the way the characters referred to each other, especially in the graveyard scene. Voldemort uses an ancient word to refer to himself that you NEVER use unless you're full of yourself and you want everyone to think you're an asshole. It's like, you expect gods maybe to use the word, not regular people. Then, when Lucius refers to Voldemort, he uses an ancient word denoting respect that died out years ago. I love that idea, considering the fact that Lucius and his ilk are so up on going back to the traditional ways. Very astute of the dubbers, I think.
