Labor Day

So the labor on Labor Day has come to an end.  The house is finally quiet and I have a few calm minutes to myself.   I think the saying "Silence is Golden" takes on a whole new meaning when you have a little person in your life.  I can hardly wait to hear what amazing new discovery he's made thru out the day, but in the evening when everyone is tucked in bed, I embrace the few moments of silence I have.

We made good progress at the cabin.  The two decks have new high tech Trex tops.  Very nice!  That stuff will last a very, very long time.  One of the two sets of stairs was finished.  We were all primed to get the second one done today, but my dad had a nasty fall the night before.  When DH and I woke up, he and Mom were up and dressed and said they thought he's better go see someone.  In parent speak, that means..... I need to leave right now because I'm about to pass out from the pain.  HOLY CRAP!!!  I think the only reason they were still there was they weren't sure my dad could drive his big red truck back home.  So it was throw everything in the car and truck and get the heck out of dodge.  DH drove the big red truck home with my dad, and mom, SN and I followed in the Element.

5 hours at the ER later, Dad has possibly broken a rib and is on heavy duty pain killers.  Poor guy.  He feels miserable and really is disappointed that all the work at the cabin is not finished.  My favorite part is the no one is sure he has a broken rib after all that time at the hospital.  Well, it didn't show up on X-Ray, but that doesn't mean it's not there.   Guess it doesn't really matter since the treatment is the same.  Rest, take pain meds and let discomfort be your guide.

So, tonight now that all the excitement is over.  I'm glad for some quiet.
