Last night he had a huge asthma attack. He'd been having them over the last couple of days but last night was really bad. Yesterday we started fluids and he absorbed the 100ml within minutes. We did fluids again this morning before going to the vet. This morning he got a antinausea shot, a steroid shot for the asthma and an appetite stimulant pill. I am really hoping that this will help. When we got home from the vet he actually ate before I left for work, so that's a good sign. It's the first I've seen him eat more than a nibble in days. His temperature was still low at 98 degrees and his weight was up 2 ounces but I think that was from the fluids I had given. Ugh. It sounds like it's likely a smoldering pancreatitis and an asthma attack on top of it complicated by an unknown infection.
I haven't been sleeping well and it's a lot of stress. Never mind that I am leaving for California on thursday night and have to leave him so sick. Lauran should do a good job of taking care of him though. <3
My own medications have been up in the air and moving around a lot. Today I am starting on a new diabetes medication, trying to get my blood sugar in the morning back to a more "normal" number. I've been up in the 160s lately and that's WAY too high. Today I will be picking up a drug called Glyburide. We'll see how it goes!
Just a little too much on my plate here recently...
