*phew* This past week has definitely been one I don't want to repeat.

Mom is home. She came home this morning and I spent a couple hours with her while dad ran errands. She can get around pretty well, just using her walker for stability, and she has a seat for her toilet that makes it higher and a bar in there as well. By last night her veins were pretty much shot in her arms, she'd had five pints of blood, two pints of something to thicken the blood, and over ten pints of saline.

Apparently her blood thinned even more because she didn't eat much earlier in the week because she was nauseous from the torn muscle, so she just lost so much blood. No wonder she passed out twice at home and was barely conscious on the way to the hospital and her BP was so dangerously low.

She has a home BP cuff and hopefully she can remain stable.

She told me that with the fourth pint of blood her chances of getting a contaminated batch was at 1 in 44000 and that a lot of people refuse to get more than a pint or two. The doctor told her it would be a hepatitis and wouldn't show up for ten years and pretty much implied she might not be alive in ten years. Kind of depressing thought for me but she seems okay with it. She knows dialysis is coming, but is determined to put it off until after our trip to England this fall, as she'll be tied to home after that.

Anyway, thank you everyone for your comments on yesterday's love meme post and your good thoughts. ::Hugs::

Last night dad and I went to Pachamamas for the last time. I had a calvados/apple cider drink which was pretty good and strong (so needed booze after this past week, even though I'm not supposed to drink), a cup of really good cream of cauliflower soup with a drizzle of chili sauce, and beef in a red wine sauce with grits and kale. Dad had that as well and it was good. We both had the apple tart (a staple since they opened) for dessert and I had my ice wine.

I finally finished the last fic for exchanges this afternoon and can now catch up on fic reading and watching tv. I have two big bangs to finalize in the next month, and another to finish the rough draft for, along with my pic for a 100 fic and, of course, I signed up for trope bingo, but the holiday craziness is over. I love writing for them, but I need to budget my time better.

I also got the script done for church tomorrow (I'm the worship associate for a visiting minister) and realized I'm doing a service on the prevalence of dystopian futures in YA books and movies and what kind of effects that might have on spiritual development in two weeks. *head desk*

I've had bball on all day. KU stomped all over Texas Tech (the worst team in the Big 12) in just the kind of game we needed. We played really good defense, hit threes, dunked a lot, had two good halves, built on the half-time lead, and even two of our walk-ons scored while not letting TT gain more than a couple points in the last couple minutes.

I'm tired again--went to bed at the unheard of early hour of 11:00 last night and may well do it again--from the stress, I'm sure.

At least the weather's gotten better. It was around 39 today as a high. Same tomorrow and while Monday is going to be in the mid twenties with a low of eight (more dripping, dammit), after that it's going to get warmer and by Friday be nearly 50 with the lows not going below freezing. I'm all for that.

I've been using the best Christmas present I got a lot at home--the warm and fuzzy robe is just wonderful.

I got behind on the Snowflake Challenge--not that there's any pressure or requirements--but hope to catch up on those tomorrow, and read fics people gave me, but first I'll do today's challenge and now that bball I care about is over, I'm gonna curl up on the couch and watch tv.

dining out, church, stupid weather, basketball, writing, family
