Talked to mom for about ten minutes and she's okay. Still woozy when she sits or stands up, so her BP is still fluctuating, but much better than the nearly dead of this afternoon. Oddly enough her hemoglobin count was pretty good (for her--she's severely anemic).
I'm definitely going to see her before work tomorrow.
Today's happy is that I didn't have a heart attack watching KU barely win at Baylor. We were up three with eight seconds left and we did that thing we never do and I don't like--foul so they can't hit a three. They hit both free throws, of course (they were hitting threes all over the place, too). We were finally in the bonus (only because they fouled us three times in the last thirty seconds) and they fouled our 85% free throw shooter with five seconds left and he missed. Baylor got the rebound...and inexplicably did not get a shot off! So, we won by one. After only scoring eighteen in the first half (to Baylor's twenty-two) and, until the last minute, only shooting three foul shots (and missing two).
I dunno about this team, man. I blame the one and done mentality. I miss the days when it was common for future NBA top draft picks to play four years in college. Think about it, where would KU have been in 1988/89 if Danny Manning wasn't there as a senior? The number one player in college bball that year! (We won the National Championship as a sixth seed on a down year for those who don't care about bball).
*sigh*
I really need to stop following the board during games. You think I'm a pessimist? I was kind of glad mom called ten minutes into the game as I paused it while we talked and didn't want to be spoiled by checking the board. I caught up at half-time though. Wow, doom and gloom and end of the world and worst team ever and these guys all suck and the coach should be fired and blah blah blah....And then we won.
That's what good teams do--they struggle and yet, in the end, win.
This wasn't supposed to be basketball rant. *g*
I think I'll hit the hay early (well, eleven) since I need to leave the house by 7:30.
happy meme,
basketball as religion
