well, that was pretty much a waste

I spent most of my three day weekend, including Friday night, on the couch watching Olympics and reading fanfic and feeling draggy and crappy. No major cold symptoms, just no energy.

I didn't porn at all, didn't even write, never even moved my laptop over to my writing area. I skipped church because of a fever and now feel like I have another one but left my thermometer at home.

I did feel better yesterday and we went to see Monuments Men which was a good movie, touching, based on real events, and had a great cast. It wasn't a great movie--and dad pointed out at least two historical inacurracies--but worth seeing. What these men did in reality was amazing, saving tens of thousands of pieces of art from being destroyed or taken by the Russians (who kept what they took--dad saw some of it in Leningrad a couple decades ago--while we gave it back to whomever it was taken from).

After a slow start and a seven point lead at half time, KU stomped all over TCU and won by thirty. Even put the walk-ons in! Nice to see that kind of game. We play Texas Tech tonight. Outside of TCU every team in the Big 12 is a threat to win on any given night. Case in point--Oklahoma State, formerly ranked in the top ten, has now lost seven in a row.

I watched pretty much all the Olympic sports in one way or another, even staying up till 1:45 this morning watching all the rounds of the postponed due to fog mens snowboard cross via live streaming. Currently watching men's ski half pipe qualifying in the snow--weather conditions have been so weird over there (seeing cross country skiers in sleeveless tops and one even in biking shorts, just too bizarre!). Later is women's bobsled, and the finals of this, then I'll watch the women's giant slalom in replay this afternoon--if it shows up. Replays are supposed to be available by 2:00 pm CST--on Sunday night, the men's GS didn't start for me until a little after 7:00. I had it open in my laptop for an hour and fifteen minutes, was dozing to Thor on TV, when it suddenly started. Very annoying. But, hey, two medals!

If you haven't figured it out, I'm extremely patriotic during the Olympics. If an American isn't in a contest, I'll root for a Brit next followed by Canadian or Australian. I never want the Chinese to win and am still iffy about the Russians.

I am pleased by nbcsn's decision to show every single skater during figure skating. Also love Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski's commentary, color coordinated outfits and their head pieces. They're obviously good friends and their banter is fun--also very knowledgeable and not afraid of saying what they mean. As pretty much every one says, they should be on the prime time packaged show, too.

I am not pleased by how easy it is to be spoiled on nbcolympics.com. It's very annoying that there are headlines all over the place about winners--if you're watching live, fine, but I'm still recording all day to watch at night and watching only a few things live or in replay. The tweets down the side of each stream are really bad--they're there for the replays so you quickly have to drag them to the bottom and still you tend to get some info. Hell, I was watching the live stream yesterday of something and found out who won ice dancing just because some one tweeted it in the tweet stream for some other sport!

I remember the days when NBC tried desperately to keep results a secret--I wish they did that at least on their own website. If espn gets it, fine. At least during the broadcasts they don't give results about sports they haven't aired yet--for example, skiing is always packed for prime time and we don't get any results on the twelve hours of nbcsn coverage.

Also got caught up on tv, just have last night's The Following and Lost Girl to watch. Teen Wolf, of course, wonderful. I wondered why they had hired Shelley Hennig for five minutes of air time. *g* Oh Peter... Why would Talia remove that memory from him?

I watched the first ep of Starcrossed and didn't hate it like the reviewers seem to. I'll give it a shot.

The snow is melting. :) Still have some at the end of the driveway but there's grass showing through in places.

Well, should work between the two bobsled runs here...

lazy weekend, movie blather, sick, olympics, tv blather
