Icon Meme
While I'm waiting for men's moguls to start at noon.
I'll be brief.
1. Reply to this post and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
nursedarry tasked me with the following (really not surprised by her choices *g*; she cried all over me during Wrath of Khan thirty years ago--Jesus we're old...)
1.
She actually pointed me to this one--one of the things we bonded over was our love of the Royals. I was a fan of the Royals back in the heyday of the 70s and through the World Series win of 1985. George Brett, Hal McRae, Willie Wilson etc. etc. Continued to be a fan as they started to slump but then the strike of 1994? really turned me off of baseball. Slowly I got back into it, but the Royals stunk. I'd occasionally listen to a game on the radio but then by about five or six years ago nearly every game was on tv so I started watching again. And, we got better and better. Over last two seasons I've become a big fan again. And we're under two months till Opening Day! I may actually try to go to a couple games this year.

I always have a "writing" icon and I really like this one. I have a BA in Classical Antiquity and really enjoyed my classes in Greek art. Every time I go to London I visit the British Museum and hang around in the Greek and Roman rooms, drooling over vases like this one (which is where the image came from--looks like a late Classic period Greek red figure vase).

I also always have a "work sucks" icon. This was made by my friend, dandelow. We met online through our Star Wars list which Dar got me involved in. Dar's a Ho, Dande's a Wench, I'm a Wo (combo of both). Translated that means Dar likes Obi-Wan, Dande likes Qui-Gon, and I like both. *g* The list started soon after Episode one--we prefer the braid or the General that never materialized on screen over what he became in Episodes two and three (the mullet and beard are a travesty).

Our first Ho Con was in Vegas--my first trip to a city I really had no desire to visit ever. Ha, I LOVE Vegas. So, that's where we all met up that first time; well not everyone, but most of the core group on Generals Grrls, and we've gotten together several times since. Sadly work and life keeps getting in the way of us getting together again, but Vegas is convenient for everyone (well except Dar) so maybe someday soon...

I grew up watching reruns of the original Star Trek--my parents watched them when they first aired and dad was quite a fan. One of the things Dar and I bonded over in the early years. I'm more of a Spock girl than Kirk, but I do love this icon. I try to have a "sighing" one every time I switch out as well. Also, Trouble with Tribbles is probably my favorite OS episode.
