Or a decent hump day.
Mine was busy, tiring etc.
Got off work on time (12:30) on Tuesday and cleaned the kitchen. The box finally arrived from Amazon and brother's cards were in the mail, so everything got here.
Christmas Eve service was very nice, relaxing, touching etc. The choir, though small, sounded very good. No one caught anything on fire with the candle lit, Silent Night, I was good and didn't eat any of the yummies. I was able to wear my burgundy and black velvet skirt I haven't been able to wear for about five years. :) Had to wear hose with it as it's knee length--devil's torture device, I swear. The parking lot was still mushy from the warmer temps, but the sidewalks were mostly clear of ice, also thanks to the warmer temps. I changed shoes once inside, though, from flats to heels.
Got home and watched Oz the Great and Whatever which was fun, a neat twist on the story. Did not figure out the Wicked Witch of the West thing at all. Then I mixed up the waffle mix, mopped the kitchen floor, and wrapped the last two packages.
Christmas day dawned bright and early at 7:00 so I could tidy the living room, take out the trash, set the table etc. Parents arrived around 8:00 and we dove into unwrapping packages. I got a pile of books to add to the already large pile of books I own and need to read, and the one Holly Near CD I didn't seem to own, my daily shoe calendar that I keep at work to look at the pretties, a fat separator and herb mill for the kitchen, an antique cameo brooch, a box of sugar free chocolates, and parents and brother failed to communicate so I got two sets of the pillar candles from Pottery Barn that I wanted, except that works great, because they got me different sizes. One set fits perfectly on the tall, big candle sticks I own, the others are taller and thin and I'll look for some shorter candle sticks for them.
I never light any of the candles that I own so they last forever. (Well, I light smelly ones in the kitchen--I have a mint chocolate chip one that smells divine.)
Parents seemed to like their gifts, so yay.
We had brunch, waffles, despite not "rising" much tasted great. They went home and I nearly dozed on the couch watching the last hour of Blues Brothers before they came back to go to the movie. The theater is the place to be on Christmas Day apparently. We went to the non-3D version and the theater was probably at least half full. Quite enjoyed it. Very handsome mens in it. Lots of fighting; CGI was amazing, especially the furnaces and the dragon. Did I mention the handsome mens?
Though mom nearly didn't make it to the movie. The first two previews were for scifi/war movies (Godzilla, again???) and very loud. The flashing lights really bothered her dizziness and she took her hearing aids out.
Oh, her chiropractor seems to have fixed the weird head flashes. Apparently she had a severely pinched nerve in her neck and when it would tighten, blood wouldn't get to her brain causing her BP to spike and the flashes. Hell, she could have been having tiny strokes! A couple sessions and she's fine. Now she's coming off the vertigo medicine that she didn't need because she didn't have vertigo, cold turkey and it's making her still a bit dizzy, but she can lift and turn her head with no fear of falling over or fainting anymore.
Last night I watched some basketball and read some and went to bed early so I could get up after twelve hours of fasting and go to the doctor's office for my blood work. I got there just as they opened, was the only person there, and still had to wait twenty minutes. Typical. She drew four vials of blood and I have to take the urine sample back once I've drunk enough water to go again, since I always go right when I get up in the morning. I guess this is the routine at the end of the year for me now. Fasting blood test and urine sample. Good timing because I always take off work.
So, I have several errands to run--drop sample off, pick up prescriptions, hit Target for cards and tissue, mail a tardy package, go get key for cat sitting that starts Saturday, go to the grocery for meatloaf fixings so I don't have to shop until Tuesday next week and can spend Monday afternoon with brother and nephew. I was going to get comic books but after looking there was all of one and it's not on my pull list, so that's off the list of running around. It's supposed to be 49 degrees so that's something, at least.
Oh, I read my three Yuletide stories and they're all wonderful. Revolution, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Snow White and the Huntsman. Also got positive comments on two of the ones I wrote from the recipients. :) I hope to write a few NY Resolution fics, and apparently fandom stocking IS open. I must have missed the announcement. It's at DW and I don't read over there but I thought I was on the feed here. Oh well, hadn't planned to write any until after Christmas anyway. Have a couple more challenges to get done by the end of next week, and six or so more hurt/comfort bingo fics by the 31st. So tomorrow and Saturday are pretty much writing days.
Well, need to go drink some more water...
