Yeah, I don't even know where to start about Teen Wolf, so...
Schism has happened. Never thought I'd see the day when Logan would be the sane and sensible one! lol I've been reading Xbooks for over thirty years so there's been a lot of character development over those years. I would like to get up to the Xmen/Avengers crossover from last summer before I go on vacay.
Brother has us all pre-boarded etc. He has nothing else to do since his job is like 98% talking and he can't. The bronchitis infected/damaged his vocal cords as well and they have to heal. May take a few days, may take a few weeks. He has some difficulty breathing because when mucus or saliva hit the cords they contract or something weird.
My DVR continues to be okay. *knock on wood* It was working fine this morning. We'll see how if it recorded when I get home tonight after DOOL, two eps of PLL and Storage Wars. I'm beginning to wonder if the problem had something to do with taping large chunks of time during Le Tour when I would sometimes have up to six or seven hours recording. I dunno. Technology man.
I caught up on Falling Skies. Geez, Michael Hogan pops up on everything these days. *g* I'm down to just Copper for a series I'm behind on (five eps) plus a few recent eps of other shows.
Royals stunk last night. Should have watched TW live.
Speaking of...
Okay, the subject line comes into play now. I'd read the spoilers about the age thing and I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. I don't want Derek to be like 40 in reality and to have gone to high school in like 1989 (the clothes were a dead give away--those was not clothes from seven years ago). Or for Peter to be really close to his age back then but obviously to have about ten-fifteen years on him now. DO NOT WANT.
So, ignoring it.
Partly because it is so very fanon that Kate seduced an UNDERAGE Derek. Is it known that Derek was in high school when the fire happened or are we just assuming that due to the six (or ten, stupid first episode) years since it and he obviously looking like he's no older than 24 or so? I can't remember.
If this episode's flashbacks were set a good twenty years ago, Deaton sure didn't age either, did he. Nor did Kali or the other Alphas, but Peter did. Can they let themselves age? I've suppositioned that they do age slower due to healing factor (like Wolverine) and can heal slower if they want as well as long as they have that level of control.
On the other hand, maybe judging by the clothes isn't right. Young Peter last season didn't look like he was wearing '80s clothes. They looked more early/mid '90s. Also, was lacrosse a thing twenty years ago? It certainly wasn't around here until the last two or three years when it's become a big deal.
I'm confused.
I did like a lot of things about the episode, most things actually. Interesting to see Peter was a manipulative little bitch even as a teenager. *g* I'm perfectly okay with that as I like my men somewhat evil, y'know. Also liked the parallel storylines, and both boys being told the stories figuring out they were being lied to. Surprised Scott caught on. Not at all surprised Stiles did.
Of course I loved the fact that Stiles and Peter interacted because that's my goal in life, to have them interact in any way possible. Loved the reference to the offer to bite him, loved that Dylan can make it look like Stiles' mind is just churning with knowledge and questions. I wish Peter would wear color though. That dark red shirt in Season 1....yummy.
But, that's just shallowness.
So, fully shifting into a wolf isn't a thing for all weres or even Alphas. Because Talia could, Laura could? We've never even seen Derek take the Alpha form--I'm guessing due to budget restraints *g*. So, he probably can't.
Oh, LOVE that Alicia Coppola aka Lorna Dane from Another World is Talia! She's aged so beautifully.
Very interesting to see that Deucalion WASN'T a bad guy! My guess, Gerard is totally lying about who bit his brother. There's no reason to suspect that 'i want peace' Deucalion did it in the 1970s when this ep was not set that far back. Maybe Deucalion was a convenient scapegoat for psycho Gerard.
To me Peter wasn't being completely manipulative. There was obvious caring and concern in both young and old Peter. On the other hand Gerard, completely amoral.
Young Derek was just adorable. And I'm fine with the blue eye explanation though it josses my belief that it was a born wolf thing (well, Cora's golden eyes did that).
But...where does Kate fit into this? Would a Derek, ten or fifteen years after losing Paige, even if young in appearance, be open to seduction like that? Fanon has it that he was young, naive, a horny teenager, seduced by an older woman. Even if he kept himself young in appearance, he wouldn't have been in his head. I don't see it. I can see a fifteen/sixteen year old Derek seven years ago or so, right after Paige's death, letting himself be lied to and manipulated by Kate.
Huh...maybe I'll write it.
So, I'm pretty much handwaving away the age thing because I don't like it and it doesn't work for me in many ways. Now I'm off to read several fics set after last night's ep to see how other writers are handling (or ignoring) the issue.
Also, go Stiles, ask Derek. *g*
Oh, wait, first, that season long preview....GUH. Lydia kissing Stiles. John (or Sheriff, he'll be John to me until they give him a frickin' name) looking like he's finally finding out. Melissa a captive. Need to watch it several times to get all the nuances.
I'm really liking my very short hair. I don't think it's ever been this short (well, since I was a toddler and had so little hair I looked like a boy, no, really, there are pics of me in a dress and a sailor suit both looking like a boy).
Oh, started the once a day isulin on Sunday night. So far, so good. The generic needles do work, thankfully, and are like $30 cheaper than the ones I was using previously. I bought pill boxes to take on the trip. I wouldn't have bothered because I take the same pills every day and can remember that, but I have to pre-cut one of my pills because I can't take a paring knife along.
Congrats to Prince William and Princess Kate on their baby boy. I was kind of hoping it would be a girl because of the law change allowing whatever gender is born first to be next in line, but any baby is a beautiful thing.
Okay, boss is here and I need to do a bit of work, mostly letters from finding files yesterday with things needing to be done, make copies to go to court, and then start the monthly invoices so I can send them out tomorrow.
