day over go home?

Been here since 7:20 working on the Order of Service, trying to figure out why there are unused bolds on every line of the new Order of Service and why Word doesn't let you just start typing over the first letter in the correct format (example 10font, italics) and forces you into what was before (like a bold) so you have to actually start typing over the second letter and go back and erase the first. I hate Word. Which is why I don't have it at home and have to do this at work.

So, getting goodly amount back on taxes though not as much as last year from the Feds. Accountant asked if I'd changed my withholding because I'd had about $400 less withheld last year. Uh, no. I do whatever the computer payroll program that updates with new tax codes tells me. Weird. So overall I'm getting about $300 less than last year. Hopefully enough to pay for new glasses, the rest of my church pledge, and my car tax which is due this month.

I got there first before my mom--dad was already going to be about 15 minutes late. Dad and I always go in together--mom has never attended as, in years past, dad took the forms home to be signed and mailed in but now the government pretty much requires you to file electronically so she attended since she'd have to sign there anyway--and while I go first, since mine takes 15 minutes and his an hour, he always is there in the room. Mom still wasn't there when accountant, on time for once, was ready, so I went ahead and got mine done and then as it was twenty minutes or so after appointment time and no mom, was getting a little worried, so while he was off printing, I called her.

She was in the waiting room. Apparently she's "not as nosy as dad". *g*

The accountant got quite a hoot out of the fact that I called her and she was there. Apparently he's easy amused. *g*

The Royals won their first game, yay!

They're on at 3:15 again today--weird time, especially since that's 4:15 in Philly where we're playing.

Last night went to the Spiritual Celebration Team (and others) brainstorming party for summer planning. Basically we did word association games and came up with a list of words for summer that a smaller core team will take to actually plan the services. It was actually fun. It was about half and half members of the Team and others. I also got a chance to speak to the person we pretty much volunteered to help me with my upcoming service on spirituality and YA lit and she's available (she wasn't at the retreat--you don't come to the retreats, sometimes you get volunteered *g*) and willing. She has a teenage daughter which is one of the reasons I suggested her; she thought she might be able to get her apathetic teen to do a reading or something. She's also an English Professor which is helpful.

Minister made an announcement at the meeting (toasted with champagne which I did not drink) that not only do we have one but two Seminarians now! I knew the second had applied but he got accepted yesterday. We all knew about the other one. I do believe that he will make any church happy. He's a moving and articulate speaker, fun and smart.

Our Fellowship has never had a Seminarian before--to have two at the same time is just wonderful. I still think if I suddenly lost my job, that might be an option for me. The one thing I majorly struggle with is pastoral care. I don't have that kind of "caring" in me, but our minister struggled with it, too, so it can be learned.

Was just about to write that I have not heard from the girl who is speaking this Sunday but she just finally contacted me. Yes, she's 16 and in school and busy but...heart attack averted. Minister and I were talking about it last night because she wasn't able to get a hold of her either. So I just went ahead and recruited readers last night at the meeting and picked readings and titled her sermon for her. We're going to meet tomorrow afternoon/evening so I can help her polish her sermon. She has regional choir competition tomorrow. I remember those days!

I got home yesterday afternoon to find my tv/dvr had frozen some time before noon since it didn't record Days of our Lives. grrrr I had to unplug the dvr to get it to work. If I didn't have about 40 hours recorded I'd take it back and get a new one. It still sometimes freezes for a minute during a show and then skips that minute to catch up which can be very annoying because it never seems to happen during commercials.

Luckily nbc.com shows DOOL by the next day so I can watch it while boss is at lunch. Harder to skip the boring parts when on the computer, though.

Watched both Project Runways--I had missed an ep. I really hope Michelle gets to stay. Her stuff is so innovative. So is Patricia's, so I'm not surprised the judges let her stay even though her outfit was the weakest. I think they really want to see what both can come up with on the runway after a couple months of putting together a collection. I was surprised that Daniel didn't get sent home but Nina really liked his outfit. Layana surprised me with her innovation. I can't believe the other guy won--gauchos, really?

I hope to get some writing done this evening. I've been so busy and boss has always been here so I haven't had a chance to write for the last couple of days. Need to zip out my fullmoon_ficlet by eight tonight (though people always post past the deadline) too.

Well, do have a lot of work, so...

stupid technology, church stuff, writing, tv blather, stupid taxes
