Well, it's not quite snowpocalypse or snowmageddon here but we have a good four inches and it's not going to stop anytime soon. Driving to work was okay--of course they hadn't plowed shit and I took two main highways through town to work. You never realize how hilly certain streets are until you're suddenly going 'light don't change, light don't change till I'm over the hill'!

I forgot I had to get stamps before work so I was even later (which is why I was on hills as my usual route is flat once I'm out of my neighborhood). My car drove okay, only skidding around one corner a tad, but it handles okay on snow and we don't have any ice, thank god. The problem is that if there's more than six inches, it's too low to the ground and will get stuck.

I'm leaving after half a day so I can try out my new shovel plow on the sidewalk and the place between the tire tracks in my driveway in the hopes that I'll be able to get out in the morning. It's supposed to get heavier snow by mid-afternoon and then continue overnight and then be windy tomorrow. Windy means drifting on my driveway. *sigh* They'll probably have plowed also which means ice boulders piled up at the end of the driveway.

I was so hoping we wouldn't get more than an inch or two at a time this year. Still, so much better than the eight to twelve inches we got a couple times last year.

Boss hinted that we may be able to shut down tomorrow as he has nothing on the calendar.

The other lawyer came in, got some files, and went home with the announcement that his girlfriend's local business had sent everyone home by 10:30. I don't think it's THAT bad, but whatevs. He does live fifteen miles south of town in the country and doesn't have four wheel drive. I'd go home too--actually, I would have stayed home--if I was the boss. *g*

I went to the grocery yesterday (something I do on Mondays after work) so I and the cats have food.

Schools were canceled all over the region, including ours, when there was only three inches at the most on the ground. That would have been laughed at by our superintendent back in the 70s. The only time he canceled snow was if the county roads were too drifted shut for the buses and one day when there was a horrible ice storm. Now they cancel if it's too cold out. I understand it's a safety concern but where was the concern thirty years ago? I think they're just too afraid of being sued.

Anyhoo, I hope to write some this afternoon. I have the ending in my head for my Gabriel BB and some other ideas for it. The summary is due Friday so I probably should have some of it written by then. I rewatched bits of season 6 eps last night as well to get in the mood for soulless Sammy and rewatched all of Caged Heat.

Boner.

*snicker*

Not surprisingly the Chiefs lost yesterday. We need offensive line help, better defense, and another wide receiver as Bowe was completely shut down. Cassel has proven that, if he has the time, he can pass accurately. He didn't have the time yesterday. I'll be rooting for Da Bears and for Seattle just because they're the little team that could.

KU struggled against Michigan but won in overtime to remain unbeaten going into conference play. If we could have excised the last five minutes and replaced them with the five minutes of overtime it would have been a good game.

Mom and dad finally got their new car last Friday--it took Lincoln two months to build it to spec--just in time for the snow. It's the one that Roger from Mad Men drives in the commercials with all the bells and whistles. They're still trying to figure it out. *g* Mom's figured out the phone through the car thing but dad still doesn't understand his actual cell phone so that may take a while.

Okay, should do the filing so I can leave early.
