Tuesday, Second Week of Advent

This painting by Poussin is called “Adoration of the Shepherds”.

We see three shepherds on the left, two are looking intense to Jesus, one shepherd kneels in adoration in front of him. There is much movement in the painting and all people direct themselves to the newborn Jesus.

My question of today is a devotional one. How can I come closer to Jesus? I have pulled the Ten of Teacups from the Jane Austen as an answer to this question.

On this card two happy couples from the book Pride and Prejudice stand under a rainbow. They are married and live close to one another after many trials and challenges. The rainbow alludes to blessings and a connection to the divine, to bliss in general. This card is about happiness, and joy. The happiness of this card does not necessarily mean being without problems. That is never the case in the Tarot of Jane Austen. It is happiness despite them, or happiness after having overcome many challenges. It is interesting that on the painting of Poussin dark clouds are to be seen. Despite those the people and angels are blissfully happy. That is a correlation with the card.

The answer is simple: by being happy and grateful I come closer to Jesus. Happy with who I am and with my family (houses on the background).
