Warming up to Tucson

Feb 24, 2009 12:43

So in the hussel and bussel of the holiday season I tend to loose sight of why I am still here in this town. I have no family ties to keep me here and each christmas I find myself still sitting in Tucson. Well today just proved why. It's a balmy 77 degrees outside and I have the entire house open. I love the deep blue sky that just goes on forever. The mountains are so close to our new home that you feel like if you were to walk 20 mins you'd be at the base. I absolutely love the quiet here too. The mocking birds remind me of the Phoenix Zoo and we have a resident family of quail that just moved in. Despite the over abundace of weeds that seem to find only my yard to grow in, I did find several small California poppies that seeded themselves this month! All in all I'm looking forward to starting on my back yard and possibly planting some vegitables in the planter out back. I was thinking that some sweet potatoes, carrots, and herbs would be a good start.
