My 18th Birthday!

Sep 16, 2005 23:43

Today was one of the best birthdays I've had in a long time! Everything about it was just perfect and I don't think I could have asked for a better one :)

My morning was before school was typical, except for the fact that we were running a bit later than usual. I wore my layered white and tan tank tops and my new brown jacket since it was rather cool outside. When I got to school, I walked in just as the bell rang, and I went straight to the art room to visit Nisha. She immidiately wished me a happy birthday and everyone else in the art room chimed in as well. It made me feel so special! Government was easy, but less than exciting. We had a substitute, so we watched a review video and filled out a paper on it. Yeah, boring... but better than normal classwork. Choir was pretty much the same as it always is. About half-way through class, I got a pink slip from the office telling me to go down there at the end of class. Of course, with me being so paranoid I starting thinking of the worst case scenarios: "Something happened to my family" "I'm in trouble for something I didn't do" etc. So, I went down to the office at the end of class and I inquired as to why I was called down. The woman asked me if I was Lindsey (I said yes, obviously) and then she gestured to a little boquet of flowers sitting on the desk. It was from my parents! Awwww... they brought me flowers! I love them so much! It was incredibly sweet. It was also a little awkward, because I was put on the spot and everyone in the office was staring at me. One of the women asked me if it was my birthday and I told her it was, and everyone in the office wished me a happy birthday. It was really cute! Once again, I left the room feeling very elated :)

After that, I went to my locker in order to put the flowers in a safe place (I didn't want to carry them around all day and get interrogated about them) and then I arrived to French a few minutes late. Madame Cicco immidiately commented about how it was my birthday, and as tradition goes, we "celebrated" by having the class sing to me and I got the usual card, pencil, and piece of candy from her. The spotlight wasn't only on me (thank God!) because it was Lydie's birthday over the weekend. It was an easy class once again, because we started watching the film "Au revoir, les enfants" (goodbye, children). After French was lunch with Sarah, Katie, Ben, and Tim as usual, and they all wished me a happy birthday. Then, Sarah and Ben broke into song for me and Ben sang horribly off-key (purposely) and everyone was looking at him as if he was insane. Haha! Sarah gave me a couple little stickers that she made for me one of them said "happy birthday" (naturally) and the other one said "welcome to the dork side!" LOL! I put it on my assignment notebook :D For lunch, I decided to indulge myself a bit so I got some ice cream. At one point, Brook, Candice, and Laura came over to wish me a hppy birthday (surprisingly, Laura and Candice remembered). Laura cracked me up, because said "Alright Lindsey, time to go buy some porn and cigarettes!". LOL. The rest of lunch was pretty normal (well, as normal as we can get, at least!) and then it was 11-12 with Judy. Much to my surprise, both Judy *and* Nisha came to sit with me! Nisha walked up to the table carrying a big, round, container. She had baked me a cake! She is so sweet! So, we had cake and spent the rest of lunch talking (as we got a few odd looks from people sitting around us... hehe they were just jealous because they didn't have cake!). My friends are so amazing... I love them so much and I don't know what I'd do without them!

In Geography, we had a brief quiz and it was incredibly amusing because the bonus questions were from "Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer" because Mr. Raiff loves that movie. Haha! Since I've seen that movie countless times, I got both of the bonus questions easily. One of them was "what is the gold prospestor's name?" and the other one was "what is the name of Rudolph's girlfriend?". It was great, because Mr. Raiff does an awesome impression of the Coach Reindeer. He sounds just like him! Also, we played current events and the girls won against the guys *again*. This time, I answered a lot of the questions and I scored the winning points for my team. Ironically, the final answer was "bats". LOL... So, now we get more candy! Yay! English wasn't too interesting. Robert and the other guy in my group worked on our "Nicola" skit some more and we thought of a couple of good ideas. It's really lame, but we don't really care because we want to get it done.

Finally, school was over! And I had absolutely no homework! YES! That made me incredibly happy. Mom picked me up from school and we headed home. She informed me that she ordered the Keith Urban pre-sale tickets, but we got kinda crappy seats. She had clicked "buy" before looking at the quality of the tickets. I was a little upset, because I really wanted good seats so we went on ebay and we found good seats on there for a fair price. With dad's permission, we ordered them and I was incredibly happy! We're to the left of the stage in the 4th row! I can't wait! It's going to be so amazing! Also, I'm going to pay mom and dad back for the pre-sale tickets if we can't find a way to sell them to anyone.

There really wasn't much else to do except sit around until dad got home, so I played KoToR for a long time. I also went online and talked to FA for awhile and she wished me a happy birthday as well. :) Even my online friends remembered! *feels special* So, eventually dad got home and we headed off to Hong To for dinner. We had a really nice time and the food was delicious. As it often does, our dinner conversation took a dirty turn. At one point, mom mentioned how we're the blood of her blood and then dad said something... and Ed said "Yeah dad, you went in and we came out!". It was sooooo wrong! But we had a good laugh :D When we got home, I opened presents. My parents got me a new blow dryer (I was in desperate need of one since mine broke), a new portable CD player, and the DVD edition of The Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit! I tried out the walkman, but it's still not as good as my old one... so we gave it to dad. I seriously can't bear to part with my old one. I've had it for so long and it hasn't failed me yet, so if it's not broke then why replace it?

After I opened my gifts, we all attempted to play LotR Trivial Pursuit and we found that it's A LOT more challenging than the normal version. Seriously, it's tough! The DVD portion of it doesn't make it easier, either. It's really fun, though! I love it :) We also had a few good laughs because dad kept calling Frodo "Frito". HAHA! It was pathetic how little he knows about LotR... even when I made up obvious multiple choice answers, he *still* couldn't get the answers right! Oh well. I suppose if I played a sports trivia game with him, I'd be just as bad. We all have our own interests and areas of expertise :)

After awhile, we all got tired and headed off to bed. No one won the game, because everyone started leaving until it was just mom and I, and we were both tired. I seriously had an amazing day, thanks to my amazing family and friends. I feel truly blessed to have such company in my life. Other people aren't so fortunate, I know. Here's to another wonderful year of life, family, love, and friendship!
