May morning

May 01, 2018 07:44

Well, that was a rare occurrence: a May morning in which we actually saw the sun, rather than one in which we peered at our rain-sodden watches, decided that the sun was probably up somewhere far behind the clouds, and hurried off to the pub for breakfast. There were actual Real People there watching, too, despite it being a work day.

Oh, and we saw a hare when driving there. It tried quite hard to become an ex-hare, but I managed to brake in time. But a hare! It's only the second time I've ever seen one. :-)

A lovely bright moon, meaning that we could walk up through the woods without a torch. There was a small patch of mud en route. "Wasn't it muddy?" people were saying, but it was absolutely nothing compared with the quagmires of last Saturday. Pellinor, who had spent the weekend camping and roleplaying in a bog delightful rural setting, and came home with absolutely every possession encased in a shell of mud, scorned it even more than I did.

A glow in the east even before 5 o'clock. (Sunrise was officially at around 5.40, but it takes a further 10 or 15 minutes to rise above the hills.)

Then some dancing, some singing, and then the sun.

And after it, heading down through the woods again, bluebells.

Then, after the bluebells, bacon. :-D
