Life has been busy, but boring the last several weeks. LC has still been sick, I've been traveling and worrying about him the whole time when I was gone.
However, things have really started to go downhill here for him. Severely decreased appetite, relentless nausea, lack of energy and dramatic weight loss - we've gone from 24 lbs to 14 in less than a year!
Nothing we had tried was helping the nausea for long. None of the food changes, the fluid treatments, the antacids, nada.
This morning we went back to the holistic vet in Maplewood - Dr. Snodgrass and did an ultrasound with Dr. Stuckey. The news was exactly what I was afraid of - invasive gastric lymphoma. We did a biopsy just to confirm it, but Dr. Stuckey is pretty sure that's what it is.
My options are rather limited - try and treat with steroids, chemo or put him down. I'm opting for the prednesone for now in hopes of providing some comfort and hopefully stimulating his appetite while maybe, just maybe, shrinking the tumor.
I'm pretty certain that our time as roommates is quickly coming to an end. I will be looking to adopt a pair of cats once LC has passed away. I can't imagine NOT coming home to a cat at the end of the day.
So, I'm going to go take some asprin, put out some new food for LC & see what he will eat. :(
