So. Midnight showing. Iron Man.
Whee!!
The movie was a ton of fun, there's some nice hints in there for comics-people and the movie is compeltely cool even if you've never read a comic (or a Marvel comic!) before in your life. Tony was pretty brilliant, as were Pepper and Jarvis, and OH MY GOD THE SUIT. I WANT ONE.
So, yeah. Not, y'know, the best movie I've ever seen, but SO MUCH FUN. Totally worth not getting enough sleep.
One of these days I'm going to talk coherently about the differences between DC and Marvel, and one of the those that I notice the most, even as someone who started out as a Claremont-era X-Men fanatic and wandered over to DC in the ninties, is the situations in which lethal force is acceptable. Maybe it's 'cause I spend too much time in Batman and JLA-type titles in DC, but watching this movie reminded me that lethal force (especially in a war zone) is much more okay in Marvel than in DC. I don't know if that's good or bad--people die in wars, it's a sad fact--but it is a major difference in the spectrum of morality for the universes.
Okay, enough thinky about the movie. FUN. The suit is pretty. His house is pretty. Dropped hints to people who've read the comics are pretty. Yay Iron Man.
Sleeeeeppp . . .
(PS: STAY TILL THE END OF THE CREDITS, NO I'M NOT KIDDING. STAY. IF YOU DON'T, YOU WILL REGRET IT)
