And now, time for a questions meme! I was given questions by
mabdese, and this is how you play:
Comment with your favorite color (or a color you really like, if you don't have a favorite) and I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better. Update your journal with the answers to the questions. Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.
1. How did you get into fandom?
I started watching Firefly and Star Trek when I was in college, and I was aware of the existence of fandom, but I didn't really get involved with it until I got into Doctor Who.
ityellsback made me watch "Tooth and Claw" sometime during my sophomore year, and then I realized that there was lots and lots of Doctor Who fanfiction online. So I found
The Teaspoon, and from there I found my way to LJ, and that was sort of that.
2. If you could wake up as any character (TV, comics, books, or movie are all good), who would you be and why?
Oh goodness. I don't know. The thing is, a lot of really great fictional characters actually have really crappy lives, because angst makes drama, you know? My knee-jerk reaction was "Stephanie Brown," which, upon further reflection, would be a terrible choice, because in addition to the whole dad-is-a-third-rate-criminal thing and the sort-of-died-but-not-really thing, she is always having people yell at her and tell her she stinks at heroing. Um. Maybe one of the Doctor's companions who doesn't die and doesn't have some completely scarring experience while traveling with him, if there even is one of those....
3. What do you do to cheer yourself up?
Derp around on the internet and read stuff, I guess? Listen to music? Sit around and sort of wait out the sad? Imagine adorable/snuggly things?
4. How do you feel about new social media (twitter, facebook, instagram, tumblr)?
I like Facebook fine, and it makes it really easy to keep in touch with lots of people, but I do not think it cares very much about its users. I do not use Instagram, and I have a Twitter account, but I use it approximately never. I do use my Tumblr, and I like looking at the pretty pictures, but the infinite scroll thing is glitchy and my computer has trouble loading all those images and makes angry wheezing noises. Also, it stresses me out if I am over there too much. It gets too shouty for me.
5. Favorite Doctor Who episode?
UGH, like I can actually pick one. I really am not sure I can tell you. I think probably the best episode I've seen is "The Doctor's Wife." In terms of how many times I've rewatched it...I have seen "The Shakespeare Code" at least three times, and I've also seen "The Eleventh Hour" and "The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone" quite a lot of times. I could continue on to "in terms of how much I squealed while watching it" and "in terms of making me cry," but then we'd be here FOREVER, so perhaps I will stop now.
