So I listened to the Walmart soundcheck with Cook. My running thoughts...
Circadian: Is that Owl City on the synth? Damn they all look snazzy. Lol hairband!Kyle. Lol topknot!Neal. Lol And-hey wait, he looks kind sexy. When did that happen?
Take Me As I Am: This is so not getting on the radio. But I don't care because I'm just happy to hear his voice again. It's like... I Did It For You and Life on the Moon smooshed into one song. It's pretty.
Paper Heart: Favorite. I love the MUSIC in this one best, I love the drum beat and the pretty dancing guitar parts. But Cookie's voice is more raspy than normal in these songs, so I'm starting to wonder if his technique is damaging his vocal folds. And then I remind myself that I'm not his mom and also not a vocal coach. But yes, I like this one best and will probably end up putting my Glitter Heart over his Paper Heart and we shall be sparkly lovers.
Time Marches On: Ooo sweaty brow is hot. Woah the surprising vocal lift. Wtf was that? It tickled my brain but still made my eye twitch. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. I can jam. And Andy is still sexy and I am still confused about my feelings about this.
The Last Goodbye: Lol this song. I will not read into it as a Cookleta song. I will not. I will not. However, notice how he didn't have a fake girlfriend in the video for this song? That's because it's not about a girl. I mean what? Who said that? ;)
Yep. Color me excited. He gives me feelings that I haven't felt since his last album release, so the spark is still there for Mr. David Roland Cook. Lol Roland. I hope his mom calls him that when she's mad.
