Current garb projects

A few days ago, I started a mailing list for the garb-oriented in Glymm Mere. So far, there's not much activity, so I started out today by posting all my current projects. Since a lot of my friends here are garb-oriented, but not Glymm Merians (don't ask me how it's supposed to be spelled), I thought I'd cross-post here just for funsies:

-------------------------------------------

Gothic fitted gown a la Robin Netherton - I have a very nice twill-woven wool, but it's in a color I'm not so fond of, so I need to dye it. I've got the dye and everything, I just need to do it. Alysaundre, a friend from Adiantum helped me with the first fitting, but I'm a little dubious. I cut out the pieces and laid them out, but some of the seams look a little...odd. I'll be down in Adiantum this weekend, so hopefully I'll get some more work done there.

-------------------------------------------

Working class Elizabethans - I've found some really great reconstructions and patterns in The Tudor Tailor, but I haven't seen much in the way of primary sources yet. Time for more research...

Three yard cranberry wool for an Elizabethan Kirtle. I can't find an image right now, so I'll have to keep hunting.

To go with the kirtle, a light wool jacket like this one: http://www.elizabethancostume.net/wardrobe/jacobean/jacobean.htm, except solid colored instead of embroidery.

If the weather's a little chilly, I want to have a longer, heavier fitted Elizabethan gown like the one in the middle here: http://www.elizabethancostume.net/gallery/images/middle-wmn.gif. I don't think I have any fabric for this one yet, but I figure it's a later project, so I'll keep an eye out for wool as I go.

I also picked up a pattern for an embroidered coif from Krazy Kat Fiberhaus. I've never done much embroidery, so here's my chance to learn.

------------------------------------------

Working class Florentine - like these: http://www.festiveattyre.com/research/wkclass/wk1.html. I have a *really* delightfully intense royal blue wool, though I still need to find some other fabric for the sleeves. They appear to frequently be in contrasting colors. I'll have to see what's left after I lay waste to the rest of the collection.

------------------------------------------

Court Florentine - like the lady in the front on the left here: http://www.festiveattyre.com/research/earlyflor/3flor18.html. I have a beautiful wine colored cotton velveteen, 30 yards of actual metal bullion braid, and blue-on-blue pattern woven linen for the overgown.

------------------------------------------

Court Elizabethans - No really concrete plans yet, but I got five yards of lovely heavy white silk satin for Christmas. It's crying to be made into Elizabethans.

------------------------------------------

That's all the major outfits I have planned for right now. Looking over my list, it looks like I'm going to be in need of a bunch more linen for making shirts, chemises, and other undergarments, as well as linen and maybe even *more* wool for linings.
