Obviously have a lot to say this weekend...

I have this idea for a Doctor Who fanfic, a plot bunny if you will. Problem is, my plot bunnies tend to miscarry or be still born, which is truly about as sad as the metaphor I've used to describe it. Besides being a very un-committed writer, I don't know where else to go with the story besides this vague, half-formed Idea I have for a basic storyline. When I write I tend to be very succinct and could write the whole of my post-Journey's End story in a thousand words, but it wouldn't be as exhaustive as I'd like it to be... just more of a summary.

Also, I'm not very good with the in-between stuff. Yeah, I've got this idea for a story, and I can imagine certain scenes where the main idea gets introduced, expanded upon, climaxed, and denou... um, resolved. But a good story isn't just about the rise and fall of the basic plot. There's gotta be filler and exposition and ... are those the same thing?

To sum up, as Inigo would say, ... I don't know... Where the hell was I going with this, anyway? :^)

Oh, yeah.

So, the main problem is that there are about a metric ton of post-JE fics out there, about half of which I've already read, and in my contemplation of all that exposition I'd have to write, that I was talking about before, I can't help but feel that what I want to say is tainted by what someone else has already said. For instance, the whole idea of Rose being the Vitex heiress and all the tabloid attention that would entail is a very logical plot device, but half the post-JE fics out there have already used that, so if I use it too it just feels like it would just be me copying part of someone else's story.

I don't think I would have done well in the Middle Ages, when it was the done thing to take someone else's story and rewrite it in your own words. My brain is just too ingrained in the concepts of originality and copyright laws.
