Everyone is always asking me (and Jim) for computer help. And who ever isn't asking at the moment are asking aren't we annoyed with everyone asking for help. For atleast me, 90% of the time I'm not annoyed, I like helping people. But the thing is there are two things that really annoy me.
1. Refusing to use basic common sense. For example if a window pops open with instructions, please follow them before you call for help. Also a side note to this point, if you ask two people for advice and follow the advice of one over the other, expect the person who's advice you followed to come fix the problem.
2. Asking for stuff I don't even have on my computer. There is so much stuff I don't have set up because I don't have time, so I really don't want to spend the time setting it up on your computer. I'll happly explain to you how to do it, but don't expect me to sit at your computer and enter your entire phone book, or other such task.
As long as it doesn't fall into those two categories I'm MORE than happy to help you fix your computer. I'm especially enthralled to fix your computer if its broke to the point of not working. I think everyone should have a working computer. If you want to learn how to do something, I'm all there, but if you have to ask me how to do it each and every time you need to do whatever it is, I do reserve the right to be aggitated, and upon the third or fourth explination I might require you take notes.
And just for the record the best way to thank me for said help is a burrito (for Jim its brownies).
Note: If you are reading this chances are this does NOT apply to you, or rather you are not the reason this post was inspired.
