here we go!

the biggest thing i learned from the blowout saturday night was...we have a WHOLE lot of personal adjusting to do. and to add to all previously existing discomfort from the past...3 months or so, i'm definitely experiencing a little religious culture shock. jeremy and i were up till about 2 am saturday talking about...everything. i must say, it's nice to have someone to talk to once again. people who know and understand. that alone makes everything more bearable. and since i'm up half the night most of the time anyway, it's nice to have others with me :)

we are learning that this place is SERIOUSLY lacking in the area of music (oh how we miss the caldwell boys) however, i am sitting in the sound booth right now and i must say, Zacy, if you came here and were let loose in this sound booth you would wet yourself a million times over. haha.

anyway, overall the weekend went over well i guess. i got to hang out quite a bit with the blowout's guest speaker, who is a columbine survivor. that was nice having someone my own age around, cause well...there aren't any in this town. none that we've seen yet anyway. the homecoming festivities were fun. the blowout was...overwhelming...but good. but the dunk tank never showed, and by the time i found the substitute someone else had already been employed, so i didn't have to get wet. at one point in the night i was pretty sure i crossed over into a realm that could only be a region of heaven itself...known in common prose as "steak on a stick." kristie and i climbed the rock wall together...and i won't say i beat her because she insisted "we're NOT racing" haha. we also ran into a band at Taco Bell who happened to be passing through town on their way to a show...somewhere. haha. in the past month or so i've learned that a lot of people pass through hereford on their way to other places. it's kind of amazing.

i'm starting to learn my way around a little bit. although it's been kinda weird the past couple days living alone in a town i know nothing of and don't even have routes figured out yet. but i can find walmart and the church! oh and the holiday inn... "left after the cemetery and left again at the combines" :)

tonight i'm doing a little videography for the local cable station. i told jeremy to tell him i didn't want to do it because i really think it's a little early in my stay here in hereford to start pissing people off if i don't film it exactly how they want to see it... to which he responded "i'll be over later tonight to show her how to hook up the camera" so he brought all the stuff...then they all went out of town for 4 days. so i guess i'm doing it. and hopefully it'll turn out alright! haha.

first thing on my agenda as the new intern... start the new "resource library" and what a task THAT'S gonna be! oh and my "come up with goals i want to accomplish" assignment from jeremy. BLAH. i hate lists. it's so... type A personality :) but i will do it because i have a feeling this whole intern deal needs to be taken more seriously that it seems to have been in the past. haha. and we'll see how things go...
