Super Junior and How Girls Become Obsessed Part 2

May 11, 2012 18:43

The continuation~

Kyuhyun, the last member of Super Junior, one of the main singers along with Ryeowook and Yesung, joined Super Junior after the group had debuted for a year. He managed to pass the shortest period as a trainee due to his capability of singing. He’s also the youngest member of Super Junior, and the rudest one. In Intimate Note you can see the evidence of his rudeness and sarcasm toward his members by his renowned remark for a friend, “You’re kind of backstabber. But I like your image like that. Keep it up!”.

However, his rudeness here is totally not a bad thing. He gets to make many viewers laugh for his witty and sarcastic comments to everything. He likes to play Star Craft, and also rumored to have a pro-gamer skills.

Ryeowook, one of the best singers in the group, is a shy person. This man likes to cook and clean up. He’s a little bit feminine and has a sweet voice (which my friend, who didn’t know anything about K-Pop, first recognized as Michael Jackson’s voice). He can play piano well and aspires to be a music composer in the future. He rarely appears in shows probably because he’s rather quiet.

Shindong is also one of the main dancers. He weighs over 90 kilos and first wondered why he could join a group with ideal and rather thin bodies with good-looking faces. Shindong is one of those people who are always present on shows alongside with Heechul, Kangin, and Leeteuk. His funny nature leads him to more jobs each day and his never ending appetite is one of his greatest charms.

Kibum and Siwon are the good-looking ones. They attract people with their well-built body (Siwon, in this case), handsome faces, and their ability in acting and modelling. Kibum kills people with his smile while Siwon does it with his status as a son of one of the wealthiest people in Korea. Kibum is currently in hiatus of his position in Super Junior and prefers to focus on his current occupation as an actor, there’s a rumor saying that he’s going to join Super Junior again this year, in their 5th album. Together with Heechul, Siwon and Kibum are the former charmers of Super Junior (the era when people were still head over heels over good-looking faces).

Hangeng was (yes, was) the only foreign member of Super Junior. He terminated his contract with SM (the agency where Super Junior is in) in 2009 for he’s unable to get his rights as an idol and a human being while working with the agency. He’s one of the best dancers in Super Junior, capable to dance 56 kinds of Chinese traditional dances and ballet. He can also do extreme martial art. Hangeng and Heechul are known as best friends. They claim to be still in contact with each other even now when Hangeng is no longer a member of Super Junior. And in my opinion, Hangeng is really a long-legged handsome prince from China. If only looks could kill……….

Kangin was an active entertainer before he joined the army in the middle of 2010. He appeared in many shows and was probably a factor which raised a show’s rating. He debuted in a thin body in 2005 and gained weight during 2009, it didn’t make him less attractive, though. He played in musicals and dramas and was acknowledged as a person who could bring up a fun atmosphere. He’ll be back to Super Junior in 2012 after finishing his duty in the army.

Over all, all the members of Super Junior are widely known as a 4-dimensional idols (idols who do weird things and are oblivious to their status as ‘idols’) who bring a fun atmosphere in every activity.

Super Junior Shows

These are the shows in which Super Junior starred that I’ve watched.

Exploring Human Body - A show which purpose is to discover new amazement and function in human’s body which people barely know. They even talked about how munching a squid can improve our sense of balance, how stretching can affect flexibility and whether tears from emotion outburst or outer stimulus show more salinity. It’s a science-based variety show, which was packaged with funny experiments.

Full House - You can measure the stage of their initial craziness by watching it, their first variety show. The show is about two female foreigners who were going to spend a whole month in their (Super Junior’s) dormitory to learn more about Korean cultures. Hangeng, a Super Junior’s member from China, was pretty much bullied in this show due to his lack of ability in speaking and writing Korean. For a first show (2006), they did really great and were successful to entertain us viewers.

There are also many shows like Super Junior Super Adonis Camp, Foresight, Boys In City which they exclusively starred as the only guests in a season and a show like Strong Heart in which Shindong, Eunhyuk, and Leeteuk currently appears as regular guests. Many talk shows are also having some members to be the MC, such as Radio Star and Night of Brilliant Memories with Heechul as one of the main MCs.

So? Do you finally understand what make hundred thousands of girls are obsessed with them? No? I tell you.

It’s not all about their handsome faces (it’s important as a first impression, though), it’s their clumsy moves that make people smile. Not all about their awesome singing, it’s about their funny remarks. It’s not that they dance the best, it’s how they make their dance to be entertaining while still manage to keep it great. It’s not about any of those humble personalities, it’s about how they still smile even after working hard nearly 24 hours in a day. And the most important thing is, it’s really not how they look superior over most people, but it’s how they look so ‘human’ and make their fans feel that they’re actually the fans’ friends. That’s what distinguishes them from many western actors which always get to look glamorous in everything they do.

Now I know why their fan-dom was named “ELF” which stands for “Everlasting Friends”.

Many people think that I’m now an obsessed freak who’d like to convince the world that “hey, we got a very good stuff here, take a look!” and sell them on the sideways while dancing like a freaking cat in the rain if I could. But, it’s not my real intention, really. I just want to make the world realize that there’s another point of view which the world has to consider before judging whether something is bad or good.

Like now, people have different areas of interest. Will it be more fun if we share what we like without offending each other? I’d like to agree that anyone has to remind me if someday my interest already surpasses the limit and pisses people. But now, I would like people to know that they have nothing to do with what I like and I would like them to stop mocking and making fun of it, because it’s totally none of your business (I think I learned too much from Heechul. He’s so blunt and straight to the point. Wouldn’t it be great if I idolized Leeteuk who’s more courteous? *back to fangirling*)

Thank you for the ones who have read this post :) Hope I can share it just fine and you’re entertained by everything that I write, if you’re not then you can take it as a trivial knowledge, because essentially, every single information which doesn’t weaken your faith is worth a knowledge, right?
