D-28: Countdown to my BANAnniversary

Apr 01, 2013 12:43

Though I don't feel that well the past few days, I promised myself that I'd celebrate the countdown to my current fandom: B1A4.
In a few days time, it'll be my first Anniversary as a BANA. I told myself that my way of 'celebrating' would be in writing.

There are so many things that I can talk about B1A4. I actually think I can write a book about them, or rather my thoughts about them. Having been a HUGE fan of both TVXQ and BigBang, I never thought I'd like another group, let alone a relatively new Korean group. This wouldn't be like a pimp post nor a META post about B1A4, but it'll be just text posts about thoughts I've garnered up this past year, mostly to recall significant events in the fandom...or what I think about each member (their personalities, my impressions, etc.)

What Drew Me Into B1A4: Overview

B1A4 might not be the best singers, live performers, and dancers in KPop, but there's something about them - I can't pinpoint what - that drew me into them. Can it be their good looks? Dorky personalities? I wonder, because there are other kpop groups who possess those traits as well yet I don't stan them. I think what drew me in initially, was the music. The first song that I ever heard of them was "Smile", and I totally fell in love with the vocals in the song and when I saw the translated lyrics, I was sold. It seems to be a trend of mine to like the music first and foremost. Yes, their /title/ songs may be the catchy-top-of-the-aegyo type...but it suits their image. A lot of people have this prejudice against "cutesy" songs. I, for one, have this same prejudice --- before B1A4 came along. I think it's not about the "cutesy" song that makes it "unworthy" but sometimes, it's because of the artist who sings it. Often, it's hard to pull-off a cute, boy-next-door concept/image without making you cringe. For me, B1A4 nails this image right off the bat from their debut stage.

Another reason for falling in the deep with them would be their sincerity. I just find this group to be naturals and sincere with their fans, always assuring that there is a communication between them and the fans. Of course, it is fan service...but I would like to think that they honestly care about BANAs. I'll talk about this more in the upcoming days. Even if I don't have real friends who are into them as much as I am, I'm actually really glad that it's them that I stan. I feel like my love (as a fan) is actually being returned and so much more.
