My heart is sad; we lost so much today
I was finally able to check Yahoo! today after a tiring afternoon of getting my rent at Rite Aid and grocery shopping at Walmart. Seeing the notice of Daryl Dragon's death was saddening. He's better known as the Captain of Captain and Tennille. He and Tony divorced a few years ago but remained close. He was 76, passing from renal failure.
One of the comments after article said "Mean Gene, Super Dave, and the Captain all on the same day." Looking further I see that Bob Einstein died today, also at the age of 76. Mr. Einstein, the older brother of actor-director Albert Brooks was also known as the wacky daredevil Super Dave Osborne. He was also on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour as Officer Judy. He'd recently been diagnosed with cancer.
Another 76 year old to leave us today was WWE and WCW wrestling interviewer Mean Gene Okerlund. I spent many years watching him with the likes of Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, and the Ultimate Warrior.
These three men will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to their family, friends, and loved ones. Wind to they wings, Super Dave, Captain, and Mean Gene.
