Happy International Womens Day, everybody!
I haven't done anything actually useful to celebrate yet. The closest I'm likely to get is continuing to read Monuments and Maidens by Marina Warner, which at least comes from a feminist perspective. Warner also wrote Joan of Arc: The Image of Female Heroism, which is a great book. So yes, I'm celebrating womanhood by fangirling one of my favorite academic writers. When I grow up I want to be Marina Warner.
Maybe if I have more money next year I can go to the Birds Eye View film festival?
It's also Shrove Tuesday, more commonly known to me as pancake day. I will feel bad if I don't eat dinner before pancakes but don't want to hugely over eat. Solution: tiny dinner, MASSIVE PILE OF PANCAKES. Yessss.
Tonight my pancakes will be eaten with either lemon curd or maple syrup. I cannot decide... I'm excited either way.
