Baking makes me happy :)
I've been a bit naughty today.
What I should have done really was to sit down and do a few hours solid work on one or two of my essays.
What I actually did was to spend more time than I can justify rolling out cookie dough (that I made last night and chilled overnight), cutting it into 'festive' shapes (christmas trees, reindeer, stars), baking it and then painstakingly squeezing royal icing out of the corner of plastic freezer bags. They look (and taste) amazing... but I will not be marked on them.
If I could apply half of the effort and patience that I apply to baking to writing essays, reading ahead, thinking about future employment then I would no doubt be in for a first class degree followed by a sparklingly sucessful carreer. As it is, I doubt I'll get a first (meh. Too much hard work) and will probably not be super-sucessful. Kind of don't care. I just want to make and eat good food :)
I may actually post photos - you should see them, they're beautiful.
Also, I was looking around for another way to waste time while feeling productive the other day. Debs told me I should make a book, and gave me instructions. So make a book I did and it is very cute! I think I'll use it to write recipes in :) I have decided that book-making is a jolly wheeze and will probably do it again some time soon.
(And by the way, thanks for the help with the boy situation. I am now feeling a lot better about things and have resolved not to be crazy. I need to learn not to spook so easily - not just in relationships but in pretty much every area of my life.)
