This was a pretty special episode, really, considering that before it aired, we had a bit of a pre-showing with Chris Hardwicke (who I can't say I was very familiar with; it wasn't until later I realized, "Wait, I saw this guy in Rob Zombie's Halloween II!" Yes, I watched that movie; don't judge me. XD), who gave us some background on the previous

I think it was really his personal interviews and Malcolm Tucker portrayal that made me cheer Capaldi's casting choice...and I had my fingers crossed that he would get to use his real accent.
Honestly, I think it's been years since I've seen Children of Earth and I'll think about watching when it comes on BBCA. After all, it has been years, I should be able to have detachment about it and there was some fun stuff there, "We want a pony. We want a pony."
But I just can't. I haven't re-watched Miracle Day either.
My mom was not as eager about the casting. She thought it was strange that they would go old again. However, he has completely won her over and she can't believe that there would be people who still don't like him. I told her how he wasn't (David, Matt, insert name) or they could just hate Steven Moffat that much. Either way, "haters gonna hate".
I was confused at first by people complaining about the meta in the first episode. Then, someone explained it was being lectured about how to take a Doctor's regeneration. I didn't mind this. The present version of Doctor Who established with Rose that the companion is an extension of the audience and represents their viewpoint. I've been around the fandom long enough that I view the regeneration complaints either with an empathetic smile or complete anger over people determined to lay waste to fandom over their Doctor leaving.
So, I liked really examining those feelings and the fact that so many had complained about his age. I also loved how sad he was over her not understanding it was still him. His complaints about her "not seeing him" was one of my favorite lines of the whole episode and he delivered it so perfectly. I think that was the point where I Tweeted something like "Here's my heart. Take it, just take it". It was so emotionally devastating and perfect.

I actually didn't see the show afterwards with Alton Brown, mostly because I was so tired. And Craig Ferguson used to host it? That's really interesting; I confess I didn't know that. I should really see some of his old stuff.
I haven't really seen The Thick of It, I will admit. I should really do that. I hear it's a very good show.
And yeah, I know what you mean. Children of Earth is wonderful, but it's really very sad. *Hasn't really seen Miracle Day either. Possibly a good thing?*
And yeah, true.
And yeah, this. Seriously. And that was a pretty sad line, it really was.

I didn't see The Thick of It until after I saw In the Loop which I mainly saw because of Tom Hollander and then it was like...this stuff is hilarious, I want more! It's like a cross between The West Wing and Parks & Rec with more coarse language.
Miracle Day did have its good moments, like with Anwen, but...yeah, the bad moments outnumber them especially the ending. It still pisses me off thinking about it.
