So, just watched STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME...

...and I really, really loved it! :D Seriously. :)

Things I Loved:

-The dedication to the victims of the Challenger disaster in the beginning. *sniffles*

-Sarek calling out the Klingon ambassador at Kirk's trial. Spock? Did anyone tell you that you have one of the most awesome dads ever? :3

-The whole atmosphere of the probe wreaking havoc on Earth. Seriously creepy. 0.0. Made even creepier, IMHO, by the fact that the probe seems pretty much oblivious to the damage it's causing.

-The animal rights moral. Anvilicious? Yes. But honestly? Some Anvils Need To Be Dropped.

-The whole Fish Out Of Water (sort of) aspect of Team Enterprise in San Francisco. Just...hilarious. :3

-The relationship between Kirk and Gillian was just adorable.

-Gillian herself was, IMHO, very likable. And a very strong female character. I know some special stand outs include her beaming up with Kirk onto the Bird of Prey to rescue the whales, as well as earlier, interacting with Kirk and Spock. And being on the Bird of Prey  for the first time.

-Earlier in the film, Saavik consoling Kirk about David's death in the previous film, and wishing Spock good luck, in a way. (Seriously, I love Saavik just as much as Gillian. And Uhura. Honestly, STAR TREK has just fucking *awesome* female characters, IMHO)

-Chekov's "nuclear wessels" line. I dunno; I just love that line. :) Especially that one bystander's reaction. :)

-Spock neck-pinching that one jackass on the bus playing his music too loudly and refusing to turn it down. Just...you are awesome, Spock. Seriously.

-Spock's definite Fish Out of Water aspect in San Francisco.

-Spock swimming into the whale tank and mind-melding with the whale. Especially that one old lady's reaction -- and Kirk facepalming. XD Just hilarious. XD

-"Double dumbass on you!" (Seriously, I'm going to need to find a way to use that in real life. It 's just awesome. XD)

-The interactions between the crew, e.g. Bones and Spock discussing the matter of death.

-The crew banding together to rescue Chekov.

+ Also, poor Chekov! I mean, he gets beaten up and mind controlled by Khan, now he ends up bumping his head trying to escape from the police. Does the universe just hold a grudge against him or something? (No, I'm not completely overly protective of Chekov; why do you ask? /Suspiciously Specific Denial)

-Spock discussing the matter of his half-human heritage with his mother.

-The Enterprise crew on the Klingon Bird of Prey stopping the whaling boat from hurting the whales (their names are George and Gracie, by the way. Which I'll admit I found amusing if only because those were the names of my grandparents' cats. But I digress). Seriously, go Team Enterprise! :D

-McCoy helping that old woman in the hospital. Just...McCoy, you are made of win, sir. <3

-The reveal of the shiny new ENTERPRISE. Perfect. Ending. :3 (Well, up until STAR TREK V rolls around. Sort of. :P)

Things That Bugged Me:

-When we first meet Gillian and she's giving the talk about the whales, there was something that really bugged me. More specifically, when she said whales aren't aggressive. Maybe it was just a product of the times plus me reading too much Cracked.com, but that isn't really the case. I mean, I know one case of a literal killer whale named Tilikum (right here at #4 on this list, which I advise you not to read unless you have a weird hankering for Paranoia Fuel/Nightmare Fuel: http://www.cracked.com/article_19737_5-terrifying-serial-killers-who-happened-to-be-animals.html) -- the kicker is that at the time of this article, is still working at Sea World. (Yeah, thanks for giving me a whale phobia, Cracked! /sarcasm) Not to mention the horror stories about dolphins and such -- so yeah. We can be jerks to other species, but they can be just as bad, really.

(Then again...maybe I read too many Cracked articles. And the whales she had *were* humpbacks. Still bugged me a bit)

So overall? Loved it. <3 Definitely a must see. :) Can't wait to get to THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY and FIRST CONTACT! :D
