I'm sorry, but I'm cracking up!!!! Serious IRL ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!
This is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad that it is hilarious and I cannot for all the love of all stars take this drivel seriously!
I can see where the bad bad reviews are coming from and Karpyshin deserves every one of them.
If this is an "alternate universe," it is the crackfic of Bad Endings Alternate Universe.
I'm wondering if Karpyshin really hates KOTOR and the fans, or if he is sick and tired of people who would rather have Revan, Kreia, and the old gang over TOR. If so, he needs to get out of Star Wars, stat.
It's fine, it's fine. :) *Grinz* I'll admit, I kind of wish I had your...snark? Thick skin? Whatever it is, I wish I had it. :)

Holy shit yes. I mean, my God! D:

Yeah. *Sighs* I think the only problem is that Karpishyn's actually expecting us to buy into this. (And yes, I know I spelled his name wrong. I don't care. XD)

Thanks! Before I got into KOTOR, that's what I was like about all fandoms. I didn't get too much into them because they are always retconned shit upon at some point, and I would just point and laugh at the writers whenever they did that.
TBH, what's helping me is Skyrim and the Elder Scrolls, that I am really getting into now. Even if they wreck a previous game, I can have my own head!canon and there is no one who will canon police you. It's helping me get into my own stuff where I have been for years.
I'm through with Karpyshin, really, and I don't care what he says or thinks. He doesn't even have perspective on this, it seems.
Yeah, I can see that they are sticking Revan with knocking up Bastila. Oh, bayyybeee fic!!!! When I don't even see them getting intimate because of Bastila's contribution to the mindfuckery done to Revan by the Jedi. Unless, Revan is developing a pattern of recieving mental abuse out of galatic sized guilt. Which really sucks and doesn't make any sense.
This mindrape shit done by this Scourge pissses me off, too, because I have another OC who wants to do that to Revan in the later installments of my story- and Kali fights that guy. But, then, I am fully confident that my story will be much better ;D
And, by the way, if you want to hate TOR, feel free and don't let anyone stop you. It's been given enough chances, and it's just not living up to what it's trying to be.
I can't stand the shit they are doing to KOTOR and I no longer care. I have my own stories in my head, and there is no "sith emperor," no mind fuckery beyond what Revan had to undergo at the hands of the Jedi and Bastila. I think the entire story and its purpose and meaning has come to a complete failure as it's following the compulsory "must have gritty bad tragic endings" EU tropes.
The entire effort reads as an attempt to undermine Kreia and KOTOR II and that alone will make a fail, instead of a meaningful story that fans of classic KOTOR can get into.
Honestly? It's the fanboys' fault. Not on LJ, but off LJ. Every last goddamn one of them. They were the ones whining and butthurting about how "awful" KOTOR II was, and they're paying the price.
I can see it as Karpyshyn's attempt to pander to the more moronic fanboys off LJ. And seriously? I think even that alone's going to fail miserably.
(Sorry for the bitchiness; it doesn't exactly help that some of my closest friends are being...*sighs* I think it's best we discuss *that* matter -- the matter of my friends -- over PM)
I hear you on the fanboys. It's the continuity fans, actually. It's the old boy's club at the table top gaming and Karpyshin being the DM too eager to please his chums to stay cool with them.
They wanted "closure" on Revan, because they are imagination impaired and can't stand an open ended universe. There's a lot to be said on that point, something, that, for all his faults, Frank Herbert (Dune) wrote extensively about- the fear of infinity.
When I played K2 I worried about how many people must have hated Kreia, because she is old and a woman, and a damned smart one, too. She seems to be the center of this hate, if I am feeling this out the hate if K2 right.
*Sighs* Yeah. If I were Karpyshyn, I would have said, "Fuck you, guys -- go someplace else!" Or, at the very least, "Make up your own versions." I guess I wouldn't be...super harsh, really, but I'd still find a way to get the point across.

She seems to be the center of this hate, if I am feeling this out the hate if K2 right. I don't think it was because she was "old" and a "woman". I think it was more because she brought some degree of ambiguity into STAR WARS -- as a lot of KOTOR II did -- and people just can't stand that. We're very quick to judge, very hypocritical, very...smugly certain that we've never made any mistakes, that we're smarter than anyone else (I'm using a more general for humanity "we" here, don't you worry. :)...and the idea of things being otherwise kind of freaks us the fuck out. We're pretty much allergic to uncertainty -- it's a very human quality. (In a...neutral way, I guess

So...yeah. :/That's what I mean by the fear of infinity, and, adding to that, the fear of looking inside and seeing the not-so-light inside. Very few people have the courage to do this. And I'm sure the ageiems and sexism has a part in it, too
( ... )
Yeah, this. *Sighs* It also explains why they're accepting asshole!Luke as well -- they can't take genuinely good main characters. (And by "good" I mean "honorable" -- they can't stand main characters with even a smidgen of honor in them) I know elizabeth_hoot brought up that idea...quite a while ago regarding one of my rants regarding how hard it was to write Luke in the RR-verse
( ... )
It's the "in-thing" to have characters that have clay feet and many weaknesses. Any character that has honor or any greatness, and they want to knock them down. They want the characters to be "real," i.e., to reflect that they hate themselves or something.
KOTOR II brought up a lot of meta that challenged popular Star Wars themes, and none of it was just for show, or ooo, ahh, shock shock.
You see, while all of EU is sliding into this morass of gritty darkfic, none of these writers even understand that darkfic is an artform, let alone having a mastery of it. K2 is an excellent example of a well done darkfic and people can't stand it for that.
Yee-haw! I'm back at last, and what do I see but people torturing KOTOR further?
Anyway, exactly. Dark!fic blurs the lines, IMO. That's good dark!fic. In bad dark!fic, shit happens all the time to everyone for no fucking good reason other than to torment the reader. That's all I can really say.
For my sanity's sake I had to detach from this. So, I laugh at this, it is so bad. So bad, so bad. It's worse than I had ever feared about KOTOR's possible fate. It's so bad I it isn't even real to me.

It's a horrible thing to return to, isn't it?
